About Whisper STK014914
When Whisper first came into our care as a frightened and timid stray, it was clear that the world felt like a very big and scary place to him.
Whisper is, quite simply, the epitome of a scaredy cat. He may never be the brave, confident guy who greets visitors at the door or throws himself into every new experience — and that’s perfectly okay. Whisper doesn’t need to become a different cat. He just needs to find the right person who will love him for exactly who he is.
He is still very much a work in progress, slowly learning that people can be kind, that homes can be safe and that good things happen when you allow someone into your world. We believe the best way for Whisper to continue building that trust is to find a forever person of his very own.
His ideal home will be incredibly patient, calm and quiet — preferably with a single person or perhaps a quiet couple who understand that building a relationship with Whisper will take time, devotion and dedication. There can be no expectations or deadlines. Every tiny step forward needs to be celebrated for the achievement it is.
One thing that would make all the difference is a friendly, confident resident cat. In his foster home, Whisper was wonderful with the resident feline and clearly took comfort from having a cat companion around. A confident kitty who needs a friend could help show Whisper the ropes — and, most importantly, show him that humans can be trusted and even loved.
Whisper also has some very important priorities. He loves his treats and his toys, and both are wonderful ways to gently engage with him and start building that special bond.
Whisper requires a strictly indoor-only home without children or dogs, where life is predictable and peaceful and he can take everything at his own pace.
Adopting Whisper won’t be about instant cuddles or immediate affection. It will be about seeing the beauty in the smallest moments — the first time he chooses to stay instead of hide, the first time he plays while you’re nearby, the first time he looks at you and realises he feels safe.
For the right person, those little moments will mean absolutely everything.
Whisper doesn’t need someone to make him brave. He needs someone patient enough to show him that he is safe, loved and finally home.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
