About Slinky (On Trial)
On trial 4/9/11. Please see all our other dogs at www. Dogrescuenewcastle. Com. Au especially jet http://www. Petrescue. Com. Au/view/110407 and meerkat. . . Slinky, 7-8 months old has one of the most loving and playful natures you will ever see. She adores being around people but also enjoys the company of other dogs just as much. Being quite young, she is eager to learn and can already sit when she is told, wait for her dinner and responds to her name. Slinky will go and get into her bed when she is told to. She is house trained and has never had any accidents inside. Slinky spends her days outside laying in the sun while her carers are away (she likes to pull her bedding out onto the grass to soak up the rays!) but comes inside while they are home. She sleeps outside in a kennel with toys and blankets at night but would easily adapt to sleeping inside if allowed. . . Slinky is very intelligent and has mastered several commands since coming into care a few months ago. She would be a star student in obedience classes and even agility classes if her new owner wanted to put her through the paces. Obedience classes would also keep slinky entertained and stimulated an important exercise for any young dog to prevent them from becoming bored. . . Unfortunately slinky did not have the best start to life. She was found tied extremely tightly to a pole at a shopping centre and would have choked if she was not saved. She was very thin and you could see each of her ribs. Though underweight, she always loved being around people and never cowered at sudden movements or loud noises. We don't think she had been mistreated other than not being given enough food for her growing body. After just a few months in care slinky has gained weight and looks like a completely different dog! she enjoys two meals a day as well as lots of treats in between and she could do with gaining a few more kgs. . . We can't be sure of her exact breed, we think part whippet. She weighs around 10 kilo's and is medium height. . . Being young, slinky loves exercise and human interaction. We walk him twice a day and he fetching and playing with her toys. She walks well on a lead. She'll need a home where she is taken for regular walks and has a chance to socialize with other dogs as well as people. . . Slinky loves being patted and often forgets that she is no longer a little puppy and will climb into your lap for a cuddle if you let her! she's a friendly and curious dog who does not have a mean bone in her body. She loves to meet and play with other dogs of any size or breed as long as they are up for a game of wrestling! she had been in care with other dogs of all breeds and sizes and was great with them. She is not food or toy possessive. She is currently in care as an only dog and is doing fine being on her own. . . We want her go to a family where she will be given plenty of love and affection and where she will perhaps have another doggy friend to play with. She would be fine as an only dog as long as she had the chance to play with other dogs regularly because she just loves them. . . Slinky is a wonderful loving girl who truly deserves to be a part of a family who will appreciate her as much as we do. She is currently in care in muswellbrook, nsw (in the hunter valley past singleton) but she can be brought to newcastle during weekends.
