About Roo
READY FOR ADOPTION – MEET ROO
Meet Roo
Roo is an Australian Cattle Dog cross and one very sweet, very busy little pocket rocket. His life has already involved quite a bit of change, making the trip into foster care from a NSW pound after he and his six siblings were found in a surrender chute.
Roo desperately wants to be confident about absolutely everything. But there’s still an incredibly sweet, cautious side to him that tends to give him away. When Roo meets someone new, he’ll often approach with gentle wiggles before promptly melting at their feet and rolling onto his back. Curiosity nearly always wins, though, and once he realises everything is okay, you very quickly become his newest best friend.
And Roo has A LOT of best friends.
If there are people in the room willing to love him, Roo firmly believes every single one deserves their fair share. He’ll happily make the rounds, weaving through legs and collapsing into a belly-up puddle along the way. But when the zoomies hit, the puddle disappears, and this is actually how Roo earns his name.
Apparently four little legs aren’t enough to achieve his desired speed, so Roo likes to run at his humans, rebound off them like a backboard and launch himself in the opposite direction for a little extra acceleration. After all, why run when you can Roo?
Being a working-breed pup, Roo has plenty of energy and a clever little brain that needs just as much exercise as his legs. He loves exploring, playing and being involved in whatever his family is doing. Once that little battery finally runs down, though, he’s more than happy to curl up for cuddles and a nap.
Like any little puppy, Roo is still learning the finer points of becoming a respectable member of society, including the devastating discovery that not everything belongs in his mouth. Toilet and obedience training is a work in progress, so consistent, positive training will be important as he grows.
His crate training is already well underway, and enforced naps are still a must as Roo firmly believes there are far more exciting things to do than sleep.
Food, strangely enough, ranks fairly low on his list of priorities. He isn’t fussy, he simply just has other things to do and is convinced dinner can wait until life becomes considerably less interesting.
Roo has done wonderfully with other dogs, confident cats and children. He can be gently cautious at first, but his curiosity usually wins and he quickly finds his feet.
Whether his future involves farm life, adventures, dog sports or simply being a very involved member of the family, Roo has an enormous amount of potential waiting for someone to nurture it. Whatever path he takes, Roo is ready to give it his all, he’s just waiting for the family he gets to do it with.
