A FATHER & DAUGHTER LOOKING FOR THEIR SAFE PLACE TOGETHER 🐾❤️

Some dogs need a little more time to learn that the world can be kind.

Sammy and his daughter Rosie are puppy-farm survivors. Their early lives were ones of deprivation, fear and neglect, with little opportunity to experience the things most dogs take for granted - a comfortable home, walks, play, affection, or simply feeling safe around people.

Human interaction was rare and, when it did occur, it was frightening. They never had the chance to learn that a human hand could mean affection, that a voice could offer reassurance, or that people could be trusted to keep them safe.
Now they're learning.

Sammy and Rosie are looking for very special adopters who understand that overcoming those early experiences will take time, patience and kindness.

These two share an incredibly close bond - playing, exploring and snoozing in the sunshine together, while looking to each other for reassurance when the world feels uncertain.

Beneath their worries are two beautiful, affectionate dogs with so much love to give! ❤️

SAMMY
Sammy is a gentle, sensitive soul who is slowly discovering something he had little reason to believe before coming into care: people can be safe.

New situations, sudden movements and unfamiliar sounds can frighten him, and when he's overwhelmed he may bark or growl and retreat from whatever is worrying him.

But give Sammy patience, space and the opportunity to make his own decisions, and you begin to see a completely different boy emerge.

Once he trusts you, Sammy is wonderfully affectionate. He'll lean into you for pats, rest his head in your lap, close his eyes while you cuddle him - and may even roll over to request a tummy rub.

He loves being brushed, going for walks and, naturally, anything involving food! We're also beginning to see his playful side appear as his confidence grows.

Sammy has bonded well with his female foster carers and can be wary of males but has shown the ability to bond with a male handler.

He can also find other dogs challenging, particularly males. He can become more heightened when Rosie is interacting with other dogs, so this is something his new family will need to understand and manage.

Sammy is currently receiving medication to help manage his anxiety, and we are hopeful that, as his confidence and sense of safety continue to grow, he may eventually be able to reduce or cease some or all of this medication under veterinary guidance.

ROSIE
Rosie is Sammy's sweet, playful and increasingly curious daughter.

She's the more adventurous of the pair and has wonderful training potential. She's responding beautifully to recall work and checking in with her carer when exploring off lead in secure areas.

Rosie LOVES to play. She's interested in other dogs, will happily initiate play and has demonstrated an ability to listen and respond appropriately when another dog tells her she's being a little too enthusiastic!

She loves walks, running, being brushed, ear scratches, cuddling up with her dad — and did we mention food? 😄

Rosie is more confident than Sammy, but her puppy-farm past has left its mark too. She looks to her dad for reassurance and doesn't like straying too far from him.

Once Rosie decides you're safe, though, she'll jump up for a cuddle and lean right into you for affection. With gentle encouragement and positive experiences, we think this clever little girl will continue to blossom.

THE HOME THEY NEED
We're looking for patient and experienced adopters who understand that you don't undo a lifetime of fear and deprivation overnight.

Progress may come in tiny steps - but with these two, every tiny step will mean the world.

Sammy and Rosie would ideally love:
✓ A predominantly female household, or a very patient male family member prepared to build trust slowly
✓ A quieter home away from densely populated suburbia
✓ Secure fencing and plenty of safe outdoor space to explore
✓ A comfortable, weatherproof outdoor area they can retreat to whenever they need to feel safe
✓ People who won't pressure them to become "indoor dogs" before they're ready
✓ Plenty of walks and adventures with someone physically capable of handling two strong dogs

They've also spent time around horses and sheep and have remained calm in their presence, showing mostly gentle curiosity.

At present, both dogs feel safest outdoors. They have shown some curiosity about coming inside, and we'd love their new family to gently introduce them to home life over time, at their pace.

Most of all, Sammy and Rosie need someone who understands that the frightened dog you meet on Day One isn't necessarily the dog you'll know on Day 100.

There is already so much more emerging from both of them as they begin to feel safe.

These precious souls deserve a family who will show them that humans can be kind, homes can be safe, and neither of them ever has to live in fear again. ❤️
