Rocky is a striking young dog, with a rich chocolate coat, touches of white on his chest and toes, long athletic legs and a beautifully expressive face. Although still a youngster, he already has the manners of a much more mature dog.
Born in December 2025, he’s a Sagittarius through and through — happy, adventurous, curious and always ready for the next bit of fun.
Rocky came into care because his youthful energy and enthusiasm were a little too much for his original owner. Since then, he has had the enormous benefit of being fostered by a dog behaviourist, who has spent a great deal of time working with him. To say Rocky is now well behaved is something of an understatement.
Rocky walks well on leash and will even trot calmly alongside a bicycle ridden by his handler. He understands and respects boundaries, does not jump fences, knows his basic commands and listens well. He does not jump up on people and is polite and well-mannered when meeting new dogs and new people.
Rocky lives very happily with another dog and enjoys canine company. He is house-trained. He is not protective of his food and has shown no issues around mealtimes. He enjoys car travel and would make a good companion for someone who likes to include their dog in everyday life and adventures. He has had no exposure to young children or cats.
His Kelpie and German Shorthaired Pointer heritage gives him a particularly appealing combination of qualities. Both are intelligent, athletic, people-oriented working breeds, so it is no surprise that Rocky is bright, eager to learn and happiest when he has companionship, exercise and something interesting to do. He has plenty of youthful energy, but importantly, he has also learned how to listen, settle and behave appropriately.
Rocky would suit an active home where he can continue to enjoy walks, outings, training, games and adventures, while also being very much part of family life.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
