About Lilly
πΎπ Meet Lilly β A Sweet Little Cavoodle Discovering How Wonderful Life Can Be! ππΎ
Lilly is a 4 years and 10 months old Cavoodle, weighing 11.9kgs and standing around 40cm tall. She has come into care as a retired breeding dog and, for perhaps the first time in her life, she is discovering what it is like to simply be someone's much-loved pet.
And Lilly is discovering that being a family dog comes with some pretty wonderful perks! β€οΈ
There are human beds, comfy couches, cuddles, treats and people who think she is pretty special β and we think she is starting to realise that this home-life thing is actually rather lovely.
π Lilly is a gentle little soul
Lilly is a sedate girl who is generally very quiet, although she can have a little bark at shadows or noises that catch her attention. She is happy being around her people and absolutely loves the company of other dogs.
She can be a little timid, particularly when something is new or unfamiliar, but watching her confidence grow as she discovers more of the world has been lovely.
πΆ Lilly would love a doggy friend
Lilly gets along with other dogs and we would really love to see her find a home with another friendly, confident dog.
Having another dog around seems to give Lilly confidence, particularly when it comes to venturing out into the big wide world. She currently won't go for a walk by herself, but if another dog is heading out, Lilly is much happier to come along too.
She can manage around 30 minutes of walking, although she may occasionally decide to simply stop and refuse to move! π Birds can also be a rather exciting distraction.
π§ Lilly & kids
Lilly is comfortable around children and has been good with all kids.
π± Lilly has not been tested with cats, and she does have an interest in chasing birds, so a home with small animals would not be recommended.
π‘ Discovering the joys of home life
Lilly is still learning some of the basics of being a much-loved family dog.
She is happy to use the doggy door to go outside, although coming back through it is still a little scary for her. Her foster family simply leaves it open for her so she can come back inside when she is ready. As her confidence grows, we think a little encouragement, patience and perhaps a few treats may help her work out that coming back through the door isn't scary either. β€οΈ
She can still have the occasional toileting accident, so her new family will need to continue giving her time and gentle encouragement as she learns.
At night, Lilly sleeps happily in a dog bed beside her foster carer's bed, but we're pretty sure that if someone offered her a spot on their bed, she would consider herself to have won the lottery! π
π Food is definitely the way to Lilly's heart
Lilly loves her food and is more than happy to help another dog with theirs too! π
A quick βnoβ is enough to remind her that it isn't her dinner, and she will happily wait until they have finished before doing what she considers to be the very important job of clean-up duty.
She likes to stand guard over food but isn't aggressive about it, and she is currently living with very laid-back dogs who aren't bothered by her little food obsession.
π Lilly's little personality
Lilly enjoys chilling with other dogs, being around people and soaking up the attention. She is motivated by treats and praise, although she can also be a little stubborn β if Lilly decides she doesn't want to do something, she can be very good at letting you know about it! π
She doesn't enjoy loud noises and can be unsure when things are unfamiliar, so she will need a family who is patient and understands that confidence doesn't happen overnight.
But that is also what makes Lilly so special.
She is discovering life one little step at a time, and every new thing she learns is another little piece of confidence she gains. β€οΈ
πΈ Lilly's forever home
We would love to see Lilly find a home with another friendly dog, a patient family and someone who will allow her to continue discovering all the wonderful things she has missed out on.
She doesn't need a busy lifestyle. She needs love, patience, routine, cuddles, a comfy couch and a doggy friend who can show her that the big wide world isn't quite as scary as she thinks.
Lilly has spent her early years as a breeding dog. Now it is her turn to discover what it feels like to be someone's cherished companion.
πΎπ She may still be learning how to be a much-loved family dog, but Lilly is already proving to be one very sweet little girl β and we can't wait to see her confidence continue to blossom. β€οΈ
