About Lilly Pilly
๐พ๐ MEET LILLY PILLY โ THREE LEGS, ONE HUGE PERSONALITY & A WHOLE LOT OF LOVE! ๐๐พ
Lilly Pilly is a 8 Months Old Cavalier King Charles x who is a Three-Legged Little Superstar
If ever there was a little dog who could teach us that nothing should stand in the way of enjoying life, itโs our gorgeous Lilly Pilly! ๐๐ถ
Lilly Pilly came into the rescue when she was very young, and at the time she was so incredibly tiny that we werenโt even quite sure what breed she was! ๐ After growing a little and with advice from the vets, she appears to be a Cavalier King Charles x โ although exactly what the โxโ is, wellโฆ that remains one of life's little mysteries!
Some days we look at her sass and think, โThere must be some Chihuahua in there!โ and other days we think, โYep, definitely seeing the Cavalier!โ So perhaps the best description is a little bit Cavalier, a little bit mystery, a whole lot of sass and 100% Lilly Pilly! โค๏ธ
And then life threw Lilly Pilly another curveball.
While happily playing and running around with some of the other foster dogs, there was unfortunately a puppy pile-up, with Lilly Pilly ending up underneath the others. She suffered a serious break to her leg/elbow and was rushed to the vets. Sadly, after X-rays, the vets determined that there was no way to save her leg, and the decision was made to amputate.
For around 48 hours afterwards, Lilly Pilly was understandably quiet and a little unsure of herself.
And thenโฆ
Lilly Pilly decided she had places to go, people to entertain and a whole lot more living to do! ๐ฅฐ
She bounced straight back into being the happy, cheeky, fun-loving little girl she has always been.
๐ THREE LEGS? NO PROBLEM!
Lilly Pilly doesn't sit around worrying about what she can't do.
She has three legs and absolutely no idea that she's supposed to slow down! ๐
She loves zooming around, exploring the yard, playing and generally making sure there is never a dull moment. She is equally happy to finish her adventures with a good nap, some couch time or a cuddle with her favourite humans.
She is a wonderfully happy-go-lucky little soul whose zest for life is completely infectious.
And at just 2.1kg, she may be tiny โ but don't let that fool you.
This little girl has a BIG personality! ๐
๐ถ๐ A DOGGY BFF IS A MUST!
One of the most important things we are looking for in Lilly Pilly's forever home is another friendly, playful dog โ and this is a MUST. โค๏ธ
Lilly Pilly absolutely loves other dogs and currently lives happily with dogs of different sizes. Despite having only three legs, she certainly doesn't expect anyone to treat her like she's fragile! ๐
What Lilly Pilly wants is a best friend.
Someone to play with, run around the yard with, wrestle with, explore with and generally get up to all the fun puppy mischief with. And when the zoomies are over, someone to curl up beside and simply hang out with.
She doesn't just want a dog in the house โ we want her to have a genuine canine companion who can become her BFF. ๐ฅฐ
Her forever home must have another suitable resident dog who enjoys playing and interacting with other dogs. We are looking for a dog who will happily become her playmate, running buddy, wrestling partner and lifelong companion.
Lilly Pilly will not be adopted as an only dog. Her forever home must include another suitable dog for her to share her life with. ๐พโค๏ธ
๐ HER FAVOURITE GAME: CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!
Lilly Pilly has a very important message for anyone who thinks they are going to pick her up whenever they want:
Think again! ๐
She will happily let you know when she wants to be picked up. She'll bark or make sure you know she would quite like a cuddleโฆ
โฆand then the second you reach for her?
OFF SHE GOES!
Catch me if you can! ๐โโ๏ธ๐จ๐
She'll happily repeat this game over and over again because, apparently, this is excellent entertainment.
But when she finally decides it's cuddle time, she absolutely adores being close to her humans. โค๏ธ
And food?
Food is definitely Lilly Pilly's love language. ๐๐
๐ก LIFE WITH LILLY PILLY
Lilly Pilly is toilet trained and happily goes outside, although being only 9 months old, her new family should expect that she may have the occasional accident while she settles into a new home and learns the new routine.
She isn't crate trained but happily sleeps on her dog bed in the bedroom at night. When the weather is chilly, she has another favourite spot โ as close to the heater as possible! ๐
She has started developing some beautiful Cavalier-style feathering as she gets older, so her coat may need regular brushing and eventually some trimming/grooming.
She hasn't yet started learning to walk on a lead, so this will be something her new family can gently introduce as she continues to grow and gain confidence.
โ ๏ธ HER THREE-LEGGED ADVENTURES
Because Lilly Pilly now has three legs, she cannot manage stairs safely.
She loves being on the couch and having cuddles on the bed, and her foster family had started teaching her to use a ramp โ but unfortunately the ramp was too steep and she gained a little too much speed on the way down! ๐
Because Lilly Pilly now has three legs, she can happily manage the stairs to get in and out of the house. ๐พ
However, we don't see two-storey homes being in Lilly Pilly's future. She is much better suited to a single-level home, where she can safely move around and enjoy all the important things in life โ zoomies, exploring, cuddles and keeping up with her doggy BFF! โค๏ธ
Her foster family had started teaching her to use a ramp to get onto the bed, but it was a little too steep and Lilly Pilly discovered she could gain far too much speed on the way down! ๐ So for now, the couch and floor-level sleeping spots are much safer options.
๐ง CHILDREN
Lilly Pilly is good with children, but because she is only 2.1kg, still young and can be an incredibly wriggly little girl, we feel she would be best suited to a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how tiny and delicate she is.
โค๏ธ AND THEN THERE'S LILLY PILLYโฆ
There is something incredibly special about this little girl.
She came into care tiny and vulnerable, then faced a major operation at such a young age. Yet none of it has taken away her joy, cheekiness, confidence or love of life.
She doesn't see herself as a dog who is missing something.
She is simply Lilly Pilly โ a tiny Cavalier cross mystery package with three legs, a cheeky little attitude, a heart full of love and an uncanny ability to make everyone around her smile. ๐ฅนโค๏ธ
She will zoom.
She will explore.
She will demand cuddles when she wants.
She will play โcatch me if you can.โ
She will probably tell you when dinner is late.
She will absolutely want a doggy BFF to run, wrestle and play with.
And she will, without question, make you laugh every single day. ๐๐พ
At just 8 months old, Lilly Pilly has her whole life ahead of her โ and we cannot wait to find the very special family who will see past her three legs and see what we see:
An absolutely amazing little girl who has overcome so much and still thinks life is pretty darn wonderful. โค๏ธ๐พ
๐ธ LILLY PILLY'S FOREVER HOME
๐พ Must have another suitable, playful resident dog
๐พ A canine BFF who enjoys playing, running and wrestling
๐พ A home where stairs are not part of her everyday routine
๐พ Older, dog-savvy children
๐พ Humans who understand she is still a young puppy and will continue learning
๐พ Plenty of cuddles, fun and involvement in family life
๐พ And, of course, plenty of love for this tiny three-legged bundle of sass, happiness and personality! ๐๐ถ
