About Odie
Meet Odie—also affectionately known as Stephan with a "ph"! This little Chihuahua may be small in size at just 2.7 kg, but he's packed with heart and personality. Odie strikes the perfect balance between being an affectionate cuddle bug and an easygoing companion. Whether you're young or old, Odie will be your sweetest shadow, soaking up all the cuddles and companionship you can give. When it's time to relax, he's just as happy to unwind quietly on his own.
Odie is not only adorable but exceptionally well-mannered. He’s fully toilet trained and confidently uses a doggy door, making him a dream for any household. While Odie, like any dog, will need a bit of guidance to adjust to a new home, he learns quickly and eagerly aims to please. Rare for a Chihuahua, Odie doesn’t mind getting his feet wet and gleefully dances around in anticipation of mealtime, showing pure joy that’s infectious.
Both pampered and well-groomed, Odie’s groomer gives him a 10/10 for his excellent behaviour during baths, nail trims, and visits to the vet. Odie's also a true foodie, passionately anticipating meal times with a sweet little dance that's sure to make you smile. Despite his adorable overbite, he's an enthusiastic eater who never turns his nose up at a meal.
Odie also loves daily walks and is comfortably relaxed around other dogs, often trotting at a leisurely pace. He relishes car rides, often settling in for a nap before you reach your destination. In his role as a little watchdog, Odie takes home security seriously, alerting you to the arrival of the postie or any visitors before settling back down for a rest.
He loves the company of his foster dog siblings and has an especially gentle nature around children, seeking out calm, respectful older kids for extra cuddles. His ideal new family would include older children, a friendly canine companion, and a secure yard where he can explore safely. Odie isn't high-energy, but he deeply craves a loving home filled with affection, comfy naps, and shared moments.
In foster care, Odie has blossomed into a confident and affectionate little dog. He's now ready to share his abundant joy and love with a new forever family. If you're looking for a loyal companion to fill your home with cuddles, laughs, and unconditional love, Odie can't wait to meet you!
Medical notes
3 year old Odie is desexed, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with flea, tick, intestinal worm and heart worm prevention.
Odie had a big dental and lost 13 teeth. He has healed just fine and for now his mouth is comfortable.
We recommend, as with all small breeds, regular vet checks to monitor dental health and overall wellbeing. With Odie, due to his severe overbite, we can’t stress enough the importance of 6 monthly dental checks with your vet.
Otherwise, he’s had a full check up including bloods and is a healthy dog.
Adoption details
Chihuahua Rescue QLD Inc. is not a first to apply rescue group.We re-home our dogs based on the best possible family we can find them.
The first step to adopting a dog from us is to fill out an expression of interest form.
We encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about your family and your home as this helps us make sure we match you with the most suitable dog.

Due to the large volume of inquiries we are unable to respond to all applications. If you are considered suitable for the dog you have applied for you will be contacted witihin one week of applying.
Please note: we do not organise any meet and greet without a completed expression of interest form.
Our adoption process involves:
1) Completing online application form - only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
2) Arranging a meet and greet with the dogs foster carer, after which we ask you to take 24 hours to make a decision about whether you want to adopt this dog
3) A brief home visit and yard check from one of our volunteers
4) Adoption trial spanning four weeks.
We ask that you pay the dogs adoption fee at the beginning of the adoption trial, however this will be refunded if for any reason the dog is not working out in your home within the four week period. We offer a four week adoption trial to make sure that you have plenty of time for your new dog to settle into your home and so we can offer you full support during this period and beyond.
We offer a free health check with our vets at Browns Plains, Jindalee or Kedron vet clinic after you’ve adopted your dog and every dog in our care is up to date with all vet work.
