URGENT: Adopters needed - Hen Rescue 23/8/26
Without more adopters, we will have no choice but to leave just over 200 hens behind.
On Sunday, 23rd August, we will hold Rescue Hen Adoption Days in Towen Mountain (Sunshine Coast) and Gympie, QLD.
On egg farms, it is industry practice to cull thousands of retired hens at a mere quarter of their natural lifespan, 18 months of age, when egg production slows. They are deemed "unviable" and replaced with younger hens. By becoming a hen adopter today, you can stop a hen facing the heartbreaking fate of being culled.
Rescue hens make incredible companions and garden helpers. They also teach the future generation about new responsibilities, empathy, and care in a hands-on way. But beyond that, these rescue hens are worthy and deserving of being loved and given a second chance.
If you've ever wanted to adopt a rescue hen, now is the time.
