Barossa is one of five girls in ARK’s gorgeous Far Horizons Litter — eleven Wolfhound x Border Collie puppies who have been raised with great care in a family foster home.
At 3.61 kgs, Barossa is still a small bundle, but we expect her to mature into a medium-to-large dog.
And if you think she looks just a little “pink” in her lead photos, that’s simply the result of a very good time playing in the red dirt at her foster home.
❤️ Meet Mum — Crystal
Barossa’s mum, Crystal, is a gentle, affectionate and very sweet-natured girl.
She is calm, eager to please and has been an excellent mother to her rather enormous family. In fact, Crystal has made such an impression on her foster carers that she will be staying with them permanently.
Dad is a handsome, intelligent and active Border Collie of working type.
🏡 A Wonderful Start
These puppies have not spent their early weeks isolated from normal family life.
From around two weeks of age Barossa and her siblings have been gently handled and socialised, including exposure to children, older dogs and chickens.
That good early experience gives Barossa a lovely foundation, but puppy socialisation is an ongoing process and will need to continue in her new home.
🐾 And Barossa?
At this age Barossa is still developing, and we would rather let her show her future family who she is than invent a personality for such a young puppy.
What we do know is that she has had an excellent start to life, comes from a lovely-natured mum and an intelligent working-breed dad, and has every opportunity to grow into a terrific family companion in the right hands.

✓ A family prepared for the needs of a medium-to-large adult dog
Puppies are delightful, but they also require time, patience, consistency and commitment. Barossa deserves a family ready for all of it.
✂️ Deferred Desexing Program
Barossa will be adopted under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program.
Her adoption fee is $695, including the cost of desexing, subject to the terms of ARK’s Deferred Desexing Agreement.
Her successful adopter will be required to sign the agreement and ensure Barossa is desexed within the required timeframe.

Barossa was born on 28 June 2026 with ten brothers and sisters: Mungo, Otway, Broome, Flinders, Arnhem, Daintree, Kiama, Kimberley, Yarra and Eden.
ARK welcomes suitable interstate applications and is happy to assist successful applicants with information and quotes for transport.

✂️ Deferred Desexing Program
Barossa will be adopted under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program.
Her adoption fee is $695, including the cost of desexing, subject to the terms of ARK’s Deferred Desexing Agreement.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
