Meet Palermo, your little shadow and best friend. Palermo is a gorgeous lil man weighing just 1.7 kgs. This tiny fluffy boy has a big heart and is looking for a calm, loving home where he can truly thrive. Palermo came into rescue after being part of a backyard breeding seizure, so he hasn’t had the easiest start in life. Despite this, he is a bright happy little boy who is learning to feel safe, loved and enjoying freedom. He’ll thrive with a family who can offer patience, guidance and compassion. A true Velcro dog, Palermo adores cuddles, loves his toys and simply wants to be close. He enjoys playing, is intelligent and eager to learn, and is continuing to improve on his lead walking.

He has made a full recovery from patella surgery and is now ready to begin the next chapter of his life. Due to Palermo’s surgery, stairs to assist him from jumping on and off furniture/beds would be highly recommended to prevent future stress/injuries to his joints. Palermo also required 7 teeth removal, and does find difficulty eating anything hard. Palermo is still uncertain what to do with treats, however loves small pieces of cooked chicken.

Palermo does prefer to sleep and be close to his humans at all times, so will seek out to be on your lap or sleep on the bed. Crate training has been tried and this has not been successful. He experiences high anxiety when he feels confined.

Due to Palermo’s breed, he requires daily grooming to prevent matting.

Palermo will be best suited to a calm home where someone is around for much of the day, and he would also benefit from the companionship of another small calm, gentle dog of a similar size, and who enjoys playing and running around, but also relaxing. He is still learning his toilet training and will need ongoing consistency, along with access to the outdoors via a doggy door.

Palermo has not been tested with cats, and children would need to be dog savvy from at least 5 years of age.
