Maggie is an adorable gentle soul who loves spending time with her humans.
Her family has moved overseas and sadly couldn’t take Maggie with them. She came from a very loving, caring, calm home and is currently enjoying of all the soft furnishings in a loving, caring, calm foster home. She is fully vaccinated, desexed, microchipped and house trained.
Maggie is a very pretty girl – loves her daily brushing, enjoys a good bath every few weeks, and she is well behaved at the groomers.
She has some food allergies that will irritate her skin or upset her stomach, but a diet of high quality dog food, home cooked meals or single protein diet (warmed up) keeps her healthy and energised.
Maggie is currently a little on the heavy side so she’s getting lots of walks with her foster carer, which makes her happy because walks are an absolute favourite of hers. She gets very excited and can pull on the leash at the start but quickly settles into a nice pace and follows cues without too much complaint.
Maggie is curious about other dogs and will stop to sniff and say hello, but she’s not overly interested in playing with them.
While she is a perfect angel at home (well behaved, polite, playful, very cuddly and affectionate), she can be a bit reactive outside. She gets startled easily and can get barky and nippy with people she doesn’t know. She hasn’t been socialised with many dogs or people in her life, so she gets overwhelmed and looks to her person for protection.
Car rides are great and exciting, she loves looking out the window.
Her favourite spot in the house is wherever you are. And the shower floor when it’s hot.
Her best new life would be in a home with adults, no small children and no other pets. It will also need secure fencing as she has been known to want to jump over fences in the past.
Her new person/family will need to be very patient with her at first – she is a shy, quiet girl and will need a bit of time to let her personality shine. Calm energy, gentle approach and training with positive reinforcement will go a long way. Maggie is an absolute sweetheart with so much love to give.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
