About Zaira
Zaira is a gentle lady who appreciates the quieter things in life: a peaceful home, a good window view, and someone who knows exactly where to give the best pats.
During her time in foster care, Zaira showed that she's happiest when she's allowed to settle in and find her own little routine. It took her a few days to feel comfortable, and once she did, she found her favourite spots around the house, especially anywhere she could relax and watch the birds outside. She's not one to demand attention all day, but when the mood strikes, she'll wander over for some affection or greet you in the morning to remind you about breakfast.
And don't mistake her independence for a lack of affection. Zaira loves a good pat. She'll start purring almost instantly when you give her some attention, and sometimes simply seeing her people walk into the room is enough to get that little purr motor going. She prefers keeping all four paws on the floor and will suit someone who enjoys having a calm companion nearby without needing a cat constantly on their lap.
Zaira came into our care needing some extra TLC, and we've loved watching her get back to feeling her best. She does have a few ongoing health considerations that our veterinary team will discuss with her new family before adoption. Her gorgeous long coat will also need daily brushing, both to keep her comfortable and looking her best, and perhaps to sneak in a few extra purrs along the way.
At 7 years old, Zaira isn't looking for a life full of chaos. She's looking for somewhere peaceful to call her own, a windowsill for bird watching, cosy places to snooze, and kind people who'll love her exactly as she is.
We encourage you to come and meet Zaira at our North Melbourne shelter as soon as possible, as our cats cannot be placed on hold. If your idea of a wonderful companion is a gentle, undemanding girl who'll quietly share your home and reward your affection with the sweetest purrs, Zaira might be waiting for you.
