Meet Benny, a wonderfully quirky-looking, big-hearted boy who may not win you over with a perfectly polished “designer dog” appearance — but give him five minutes and his gentle, loving personality certainly will!

Benny is a 5-year-old Bull Arab x Staffy, although he is more Staffy-sized, standing around knee height. He is, however, a very solid 33kg, so think chunky Staffy proportions with some very handsome Bull Arab markings and features!😍

Benny came to us as a transfer from a local pound because he simply needed a little more exposure and the chance to show people what a lovely dog he really is.

From what we've seen so far, Benny is a mature, quiet and beautifully mannered boy. At five years old, the crazy puppy stage is behind him. He isn't jumpy, mouthy or destructive — he is simply a chilled-out gentleman who would really like to be part of a family.

🏡 Benny's ideal home

Benny has previously lived in a yard and his family were busy workers who weren't home all the time. Because he became used to being around his people, he didn't enjoy being left alone for long periods!

For this reason, Benny is looking for a home where someone is around for much of the day — perhaps someone who works from home, is semi-retired, or simply has a lifestyle that allows plenty of companionship.

He doesn't want to spend his days shut outside on his own. What Benny really wants is to belong to the household — hanging out near his people, getting a belly rub, enjoying a treat and generally being part of everyday life.

He may not be fully toilet trained yet, but he has been very clean in his kennel, and his mature nature and good manners give us confidence that with patience and routine, indoor living could suit him beautifully.

🐶 What about other dogs?

Benny has shown us that he is quite happy to ignore other dogs rather than make a fuss about them. With a gentle introduction, he may even enjoy living with a friendly, desexed female dog.

As always, meet-and-greets with any existing dogs in the home are recommended.

👧 Kids?

We have been told Benny has previously lived with young children without issue. We haven't seen any aggression from Benny during his time with us, and he has generally presented as a quiet and gentle boy.

Meet-and-greets with children in the home are recommended so everyone can make sure the match feels right.

🐱 Cats?

We're not yet sure! Benny may possibly have lived with cats previously, but unfortunately our current pound cats are far too nervous to safely participate in a dog meet-and-greet, so we aren't able to cat-test him just yet.

We are hoping to assess him with cats when we have a suitable opportunity.

Benny walks well on lead, will sit when asked and has already shown us that he has some lovely manners.

He has a very Bull Arab-type nature — loyal, affectionate, gentle and devoted to his people. He's the sort of dog who doesn't need to be the centre of attention; he just wants to know his people are nearby.

And yes, we know he's a little quirky-looking! 😂 But honestly, we adore him.

There is something incredibly endearing about this chunky, unusual-looking boy who has so much love to give. Benny may be the dog who gets overlooked because he isn't the most conventional-looking dog in the kennel, but underneath those gorgeous markings is a really lovely, mature and affectionate personality.

At five years old, Benny has left the puppy nonsense behind. He is ready for someone who appreciates a quiet, well-mannered, loyal companion and who will give him what he has been missing — a home where he isn't simply left outside, but gets to be part of the family.
