Cody

Cody is 7 years old, and after spending almost his entire life with the same person, he has suddenly found himself without the home he has always known.

Cody was surrendered because his owner was moving into a nursing home. He had been with them since he was just a kitten. For seven years, that was his world, his person, his familiar surroundings and the life he knew.

Now, everything has changed.

Cody is a nervous boy who has always found unfamiliar people difficult. When visitors came to his old home, he would hide or run away rather than approach them. Even the vet is a very scary experience for him. But there is something important in his history: he was comfortable with his owner. He knew them. He trusted them. At home, he was a calm and settled cat.

He has also spent much of his life outdoors and isn't the sort of cat who has been perfectly polished into the stereotypical house cat and he can be anxious and unsure in unfamiliar situations. But none of that makes him any less deserving of a home.

If anything, it makes his situation all the more heartbreaking.

Cody is entering the quieter years of his life, and instead of spending them curled up somewhere familiar and loved, he is trying to understand why his person and his home are gone.

We know Cody won't be the cat who immediately races up to greet you. He needs someone who can see past the fear. Someone who understands that trust isn't always instant, sometimes it is built quietly, day by day.

Cody doesn't need someone looking for a perfect cat. He needs someone willing to give an older, frightened boy a second chance.

After seven years with one person, surely Cody deserves to know that losing his home doesn't mean losing his chance at being loved.
