About Maverick
Meet Maverick 🐾
If you're looking for a gentle giant with a heart every bit as big as his size, Maverick could be your perfect match.
Maverick is a sweet, easy-going boy who takes life at his own relaxed pace. Low energy by nature, he's happiest spending much of the day snoozing in a sunny spot, saving his excitement for dinner time. After polishing off his evening meal, he has an adorable tradition of tearing around the yard at full speed for a few joyful laps before settling back down for another nap. It's one of the many little quirks that makes him so lovable.
Despite his impressive size, Maverick is a gentle, affectionate dog who enjoys being around people but doesn't demand constant attention. He's happy to spend the working day relaxing on his own and has been left for 8–10 hours without issue. When people are around, he'll happily wander over for a friendly greeting before returning to whatever comfortable spot he's chosen.
Maverick has lived successfully with other dogs and has always been friendly and sociable, both at home and out on walks. He's the picture of calm around other dogs, happily watching them without feeling the need to interact, and has never shown any signs of aggression. He walks nicely on lead, has some recall, and is equally relaxed meeting new people. In fact, he's so laid-back that vet visits are a breeze, taking everything in his stride without any fuss. His only challenge is travelling by car—he doesn't like jumping in and will need someone able to help lift him into the vehicle.
He is fully toilet trained, has excellent manners, and has never been an escape artist. Since moving into foster care, Maverick has settled beautifully into indoor life and is happily sleeping inside at night. He still enjoys having a secure yard where he can stretch his legs, soak up the sunshine and, of course, enjoy his signature evening zoomies before coming back inside to relax with his people.
Maverick has epilepsy and takes medication twice daily, which has his condition very well controlled. Breakthrough seizures are now very uncommon.
If you have room in your home and your heart for a calm, gentle companion who asks for little more than a comfy bed, a secure yard and plenty of love, Maverick is ready to become a much-loved member of the family.
