Meet Kiama, one of five girls in our beautiful Far Horizons Litter.

At six weeks old, there is only so much we can honestly tell you about what Kiama will be like as an adult. What we can tell you — and what we think is particularly important — is that these puppies have an absolutely wonderful mother.

❤️ Meet Mum — Crystal

Crystal is a beautiful rough-coated Wolfhound cross with one of the loveliest temperaments we could hope to see in a mother dog. She is gentle, sweet-natured, affectionate and extraordinarily eager to please. She is calm with people, easy to live with and, in the view of those who know her best, about as close to perfect as a dog can get.

Her foster family have fallen completely in love with her. So much so that when her mothering duties are over, Crystal won’t be leaving them — she has already found her forever home.

We have deliberately included photos of Crystal in Kiama’s profile because we think Mum is one of the strongest recommendations these puppies could have. Temperament is never guaranteed, of course, but Kiama could hardly have had a better start in life or a sweeter example to learn from.

Dad is a handsome black and white Border Collie, and we have included a photo of him too. He is a typical Border Collie — intelligent, active and very much a working-dog type.

🐾 And Kiama?

Like most of her brothers and sisters, Kiama currently looks rather more Border Collie than Wolfhound.

We won’t manufacture an adult personality for a puppy this young. Over the coming weeks her own little character will continue to emerge, and her profile can be updated as we learn more about her.

With Crystal and her Border Collie dad behind her, we expect Kiama to grow into a medium to large dog. Her eventual size, coat and precise characteristics cannot be predicted with certainty, but her new family should be prepared for an intelligent young dog who will benefit from ongoing socialisation, kind training, exercise and plenty of involvement in family life.

Kiama will be ready to leave for her new home from 23 August 2026, when she is eight weeks old.

✓ Appropriate exercise as she grows

✓ A family prepared for the commitment involved in raising a medium-to-large puppy

❤️ Deferred Desexing Program

Kiama is too young to be desexed before adoption and will therefore be adopted under ARK’s Deferred Desexing Program. Her adoption fee of $695 includes the cost of desexing, subject to terms and conditions.

Her adopter will be required to sign a Deferred Desexing Agreement and ensure that Kiama is desexed at the appropriate age in accordance with that agreement.

Kiama and her ten brothers and sisters make up our Far Horizons Litter, each carrying a name drawn from the Australian landscape — rather fitting for ARK puppies who may eventually find their homes anywhere across this very big country.
