About Deano
Hello there! I'm Deano, and I'm officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR DEANO
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/n9BaH5cg3BybF5Ky7
Please Note: You'll only be able to meet Deano if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
General:
• Familiarity/understanding and/or experience with my breed traits would be highly valued.
• I'll need a lot of daily exercise - walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy, a short daily walk will not be enough for me.
• I am a working breed and thrive when I have a job to do, I am eager to learn and would be best suited to a home that is going to give me lots of mental stimulation, physical exercise and enrichment to keep me cool calm and collected.
• I want to be part of the family indoors - not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing is essential to keep me safe.
• I'd love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• Most importantly, I'm looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• When I get excited, I can be bouncy and mouthy and may accidently hurt them so I can not go to a home with children under 15yrs.
• Socialisation is just as important as training. Taking me to new places, introducing me to all sorts of people, dogs, and other animals will help me grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.
• Training, training, training - it's essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.
Dog Compatibility:
• I'd love a friendly female dog playmate to keep me company when my family isn't home, being a working breed I will not cope being left alone in a backyard for long periods.
• I love female dogs but im not a fan of other male dogs, I will require further socialisation in a controlled environment.
Cat / small animal:
• I have a high prey drive, so I'm not suited to homes with cats or small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, or ducks.
Perks:
• I'm a very playful, happy boy with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I'm excited.
• I'm highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I'm quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans after my job is done for the day.
• I LOVE toys - especially my ball! Fetch and tug-of-war are some of my favourite games.
• I'm exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
• I'm clever, enthusiastic, and would thrive with a family who'll continue my training and maybe even teach me some cool new tricks even though I already sit and shake on command.
Training:
• I haven't had any formal training yet, so I'll need help with all my basic manners and life skills, I can be jumpy and mouthy but the good news is I love food and toys, which will make positive training lots of fun and rewarding for me.
• Once I'm settled, I can walk nicely, but I may pull if something grabs my attention or if I decide I'd like to head in a different direction. I can also pull or a bit skittish if startled, so a harness or head halter would really help while I continue my training.
• I may initially shy away from things going over/ off my head (like a lead), but I warm up quickly and my fun, lively personality soon shines through
