I arrived at the shelter along with my sister Boo & brother Sully. I was very very scared when I first arrived so I went into a loving foster home where I have come leaps & bounds. I am now feeling braver & ready to venture out into the world & find my own forever family!
My Ideal Home:
• I’ll need regular exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy. Although to be honest I am just has happy snuggled up on the lounge snoozing the day away.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• Secure fencing
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my mind occupied.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• Socialisation is just as important as training. Taking me to new places, introducing me to all sorts of people, dogs, and other animals will help me grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.
• Training, training, training — it’s essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.
• Because I may have had a sheltered start and can be shy in new situations, continued socialisation will really help build my confidence. I have already become so much braver in my foster home!
• A quiet home with no young children (under 12) would suit me best, as I’m easily startled and need a calm environment where I can feel safe and secure.
• It is crucial I go to a home with another dog for guidance & to help show me the ropes & learn the world isn't such a scary place. I am very polite, submissive & non confrontational with other dogs.
• With a slow and thoughtful introduction, I should be ok to live with a dog friendly cat. I am currently in a foster home with ferrets that I have shown no interest in.
My Paw-some Perks:
• My foster carer has described me as a stage 10 clinger. I have to be on your lap & in your skin. I am the biggest cuddle bug and love being tucked up in a blanket & snuggled on the lounge.
• I LOVE my toys & chew treats like hooves & pig ears.
• I love going for rides in the car.
• I am housetrained ( I have never been left inside unattended but will not go inside when giving the opportunity to go out)
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I’m quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.
• I am crate trained & love my crate - it is my safe place!
Training & Support Needs:
• I am shy/timid when meeting new people and in unfamiliar environments. I’ll need a patient family who will allow me indoors, move at my pace, and gently build my confidence through ongoing socialisation.
Please Note: You’ll only be able to meet Mike if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well.
