You know how they say good things come to those who wait? That pretty much sums up Trinity .
This little girl came into care with her brother and sister, all absolutely terrified of the world. But poor Trinity was the most timid of the three.
While her siblings slowly started discovering that people weren't so bad, Trinity held tightly onto her fear for months. Pats were scary. New people were scary. The world just felt far too big.
Then something unexpected happened.
Her brother and sister found their forever home, and Trinity was left behind.
You'd think that would make her retreat even further. Instead, it did the opposite.
Without her siblings to hide behind, Trinity started noticing that the people she'd been so frightened of weren't scary after all. They brought dinner. They brought gentle pats. They brought safety and affection.
Slowly, she started coming out to say hello at meal times. Then she accepted pats. Then she started returning head rubs. Finally she started to show the cat she really was.
Like a lot of us, Trinity just needed the chance to feel safe enough to be her quirky little self.
And honestly? Her transformation is one we still struggle to believe ourselves.
The once scared little kitten now has a very big voice that she loves to use when dinner is even a little late. She purrs so loudly her whole body vibrates and melts into a little puddle the moment she gets a good pat and scratch. She'll even wrap her paws around your arm just to get that little bit closer. Cuddles are even on the table, as long as there are plenty of pats and ear scratches involved.
At dinnertime, she requires a full pat and scratch session first before she'll think of eating. She'll flop onto her side and drag herself across the floor to get closer to you, purring the entire time. And throughout the day, your feet are always at risk of attack.
So while Trinity started out just as scared as her siblings, she's also the one who has revealed a surprisingly fierce and playful side.
Now this girl happily curls up next to a 30kg dog and is the only cat brave enough to bop back her foster brother, who's twice her size. While her siblings loved snuggling in bed with their foster family, Trinity prefers chasing toes, bouncing around the bed, and playing a very enthusiastic game of feline whack-a-mole.
That's not to say she's completely over her shyness. New people and unfamiliar places can still give Trinity the jitters. But after everything she's overcome, it's clear she's a lot braver than she even realises - she just needs time and someone willing to let her confidence keep growing.
And maybe a few tubes. You know, for the bravery.
She's one of a kind, from the tip of her nose to her (completely unique) brown and orange striped tail.
In rescue, we often say "take a chance on me", but with Trinity, it isn't really a chance. We've already seen the cat she becomes once she feels safe. She's affectionate, playful, cheeky and full of personality.
All she needs now is the person who will give her the time to show them.
