Darius

Darius is an extraordinarily handsome long-haired tuxedo gentleman with luxurious silky fur, striking green eyes and the kind of dignified grumpy expression that makes you fall in love instantly. Behind those suspicious stares is a cat who has survived a very hard life and slowly learned that safety, comfort and companionship can exist after all.

Before coming into care, Darius lived on the streets where he experienced significant mistreatment from humans, particularly children. Those experiences left deep emotional scars and he remains a very wary boy who greets people with defensive hisses and deeply suspicious looks. But despite his fear, Darius has never been aggressive. He doesn’t scratch, bite or lash out — he simply keeps his distance and watches the world carefully from the safety of his chosen spot.

When Darius first entered rescue he was half bald from severe stress overgrooming, exhausted and emotionally shut down. With patience, stability, good food and the comforting companionship of his beloved best friend Disco, his beautiful coat has grown back and his confidence has slowly improved. These days he has embraced his role as the gloriously grumpy old man of the household, quietly supervising life while perfecting his expert-level human glaring skills.

Darius absolutely adores Disco, who helps keep him grounded and comforted. The two share a very close bond, cuddling together and supporting one another emotionally, so they must be adopted as a pair. He also enjoys food, peace and being allowed to exist on his own terms without pressure or expectations.

This sweet senior boy needs a calm, adult-only home with patient, understanding people who appreciate cats for who they are rather than expecting instant affection. While Darius may never become a traditionally cuddly cat, he deserves a safe forever home where he can continue learning that humans can be gentle and trustworthy. For the right person, there is something incredibly rewarding about earning even the smallest moments of trust from a cat like Darius.

To adopt from us you'll be required to have minimum an online meet & greet, a remote house check, show photo ID & proof of address, and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Our animals are fully vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being advertised. They are evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and any known issues are communicated. NOT NEGOTIABLE CONDITIONS: indoor only/restrained to property & must be fed raw or vet prescription wet food.
We will communicate through every step of the process to ensure that the experience is excellent and your feline companion is the right fit. Read the contract for T&Cs for returns.
You must have residency in Australia to adopt from our group. If you are visiting or on a visa, talk to us about fostering instead!
