Meet Mumma Bear
Mama Bear and her sister, Honey Bunny, arrived at our rescue heavily pregnant after living in a colony where inbreeding was unfortunately widespread. Between them, they gave birth to ten beautiful kittens. Tragically, despite appearing healthy, eight of the kittens passed away one by one. Even after many years in cat rescue, it was a heartbreaking experience and a devastating shock.
The two mums shared the responsibility of caring for their babies, feeding and nurturing them together. As an experienced foster carer, I was left feeling just as heartbroken and helpless as they were.
Mama Bear holds a very special place in my heart. She is a sweet but shy young girl who has clearly experienced hardship and unkindness from people in her past. If she could tell her own story, she would speak of the sadness she has endured, but also of the love, care and attention she has received since coming into rescue.
Although she can be timid, Mama Bear has blossomed with patience, kindness and plenty of TLC. She loves retreating to her favourite hiding spot, but she is also happy to come out and quietly observe the world around her.
With a loving family, a positive environment and someone willing to give her the time she needs to trust, Mama Bear will become an incredibly special companion. Just look at her stunning fur coat and those gentle, heartwarming eyes—love is written all over her face.
Mama Bear is waiting for someone to show her that people can be kind and that she truly deserves a safe and loving home.
