About Izzy
Meet Izzy, the epitome of gentle warmth and endearing affection. With her cuddly disposition and quiet demeanour, she's the perfect companion for those who appreciate the balance between playfulness and tranquillity. Izzy loves her toys and indulges in short bursts of activity, charming anyone who witnesses her adorable zoomies.
She is a people-lover at heart, wanting to greet everyone with her respectful patience and wagging tail. Izzy has a natural ability to make everyone she meets feel special with her gentle nature and a desire to say hello, creating instant smiles wherever she goes. Although she thrives in a quiet home with minimal exercise requirements, she equally cherishes occasional excursions to explore new places and meet new faces.
Izzy's journey has been unique, as she adapted to life after a racing injury left her with a permanent limp (contact to discuss more about this). Despite her past, she continues to embody resilience and enthusiasm for life. Izzy still requires some training to become fully acquainted with other dog breeds and manners, but with patience, she'll blossom.
Izzy would flourish in a home as the sole canine companion but could also share her space with an independent and tolerant medium-to-large dog. Her serene nature makes her well-suited for apartment living or a home with a small yard. Her perfect environment would be a household with children aged 10 and above, given her previous racing injury and the chance for kids to knock her leg, where she can bask in the love and companionship she deserves.

Medical notes
No known allergies. Has an amputated tail from another dog attacking her tail. Has had a dental clean recently.
Izzy has a plate in her left front leg up by her elbow, from when she broke her leg racing by hitting the barrier. Due to this plate and the extent of the injury, she has limited motion and flexion in the elbow joint. This causes her to walk with a permeant limp. The limp is mild unless she has been running, bumped the leg or has over done it exercise wise. The limp is worse when she initially gets up until she warms up and gets moving (especially on cold mornings). She still happily does everything (walk, run, jump and play) but would benefit from a quieter exercise household so she doesn't overextend herself.
She would benefit from having rehab done as she ages and discussions with your vet about if pain relief is required long term to manage any underlining discomfort. She will most likely get arthritis in this leg as she ages.

Adoption details
Step 1: Please contact Anna Rogers, Dog colony supervisor (anna.rogers@tafesa.edu.au) for an application form.
Step 2: Return the completed application form to Anna Rogers. Once we receive your completed application form along with a minimum of 5 photos of your property showing various views of your backyard covering gates, fences, shelter areas for the greyhound and any other area (i.e. inside the house) the greyhound will be residing in. This is so we can assess your property as safe and suitable for a greyhound and match you to the dog that best suits your environment/lifestyle.
Step 3: We will match you with the dog best suited to your situation and lifestyle.
Step 4: A meet in greet will occur with all family members including any existing pet dogs. If everyone gets along and the application is successful, the dog will then be collected at an agreed later date.
Step 5: Collect the dog and shower them with love!
All the greyhounds up for adoption are desexed, microchipped, wormed and vaccinated. The dogs also have had regular dental checks and cleans.
All the dogs come with:
- their lead & collar,
- muzzle (if they require one),
- full medical history since they arrived at Tafe,
- desexing and vaccination certificates,
- a winter jacket,
- a blanket that smells of them and,
- a week's supply of dry dog food for you to transition the dog to the food of your choice.
