About Sheba (On Trial)
On trial in a new home 1/10. Please consider our other dogs at www. Dogrescuenewcastle. Com. Au. . . Sheba is a german shepherd x cattle dog approx 4 or 5 yo. Such a lovely girl, she would suit a mature person who wants an indoor companion but not a little dog. Sheba will be by your side while you go about your chores or watch tv. She's a handsome dog that anyone could walk with pride. Sheba would suit someone who enjoys a daily walk and has some experience with dogs, who will handle her in a gentle and compassionate manner. A very loyal girl, all sheba wants is to be with you. . . Sheba is perfectly behaved indoors and fully housetrained. She walks well on the lead. She needs a strong minded owner with some experience in handling big dogs. She has a lot of energy but controls it well. She's a great running companion, i take her for about an hour running once every few days, she follows you everywhere and responds well to direction from humans (even my 3 yr old niece can go through all her commands with her). She knows how to sit, down, stay, leave it, take it (ie food/toys), come, 'on your bed'. We're not sure of her exact age but she's approximately 4 years or older. She weighs 25 kgs. . . She has one squeaky toy she loves to chew on, and every once in awhile she plays with a tennis ball on her own. She is good in the car, once she's fastened into the seatbelt she stays put. She loves to look out the window as you drive along. . . Sheba needs to go to a home where she has a lot of human contact. She needs to be left indoors, or confined to a safe place outside, when left alone otherwise she will do her best to jump or dig out and go looking for her owner. That being said, she's no trouble to leave inside the house. I leave her in mine while i go out, and my resident dog doesn't even get that privilege! when we leave, she cries for a moment, but my neighbours confirm she quiets right down as soon as we drive away. . . She doesn't get on too well with other dogs, so even though she's trainable, we'd prefer not to upset her so it's better if she goes to a home with no other dogs. Small or excitable children can scare her, but once she knows they mean no harm she will warm up to them. She's not suitable to a home with cats. . . Sheba can be timid with new people; it takes her a few minutes to warm up to a visitor, but once she's sure her owner thinks they are ok, she will accept them. She has never growled or snapped at any human, she really just wants to be patted once she's over her initial uncertainty. . . Sheba's perfect home would be with someone who is home most of the time, and who will let her sit at their feet and talk to her about all their worries and cares. Sheba really needs to be an indoor dog. She loves to have a little run around in the backyard, but after a quick romp she is more than happy to settle back inside. She'd be happy in a rural setting or suburbia so long as she got plenty of walks. Sheba would love to be allowed to come for a car ride with you a couple times a week. Her whole world rotates around her human. . . . I will be truly sad to see this girl move on from my home to yours, because she is such a precious darling. But when she gets adopted i will then be able to save the life of another dog from death row. *** please see more photos of sheba at http://tinyurl.
