If you’re looking for a gentle giant, Macklemore is your boy.

Despite his big, strong build, he is convinced he’s a lap dog. He absolutely loves cuddles, gives endless kisses and will happily follow you from room to room as your loyal shadow.

Macklemore has experienced a lot of change in his life, but despite everything, he remains incredibly trusting, affectionate and full of love. He has the sweetest temperament and simply wants to be close to his people.

He’s playful, goofy and guaranteed to make you smile, but he’s equally happy curling up beside you after a walk. Whether he’s leaning in for pats or trying to squeeze onto the couch with you, Macklemore just wants to be part of the family.

Macklemore already knows his basic obedience and has shown no signs of resource guarding or reactivity while in foster care. Macklemore has a gentle, affectionate nature and is child friendly. Due to his size and enthusiasm, supervision around younger children is recommended, as he sometimes forgets just how big he is.

As a large, strong boy, he is still learning good leash manners. He has been making fantastic progress walking on a Halti and continues to improve every day. With ongoing consistency and positive reinforcement, he is well on his way to becoming a wonderful walking companion.

He is somewhat food motivated, which has been helpful with his training and makes rewarding positive behaviors easy. He is clever, eager to learn and responds well to patience and encouragement.

Macklemore would love a home with another friendly resident dog to play with, learn from and keep him company. Having previously lived with another dog for two years, he clearly enjoys canine companionship and would likely benefit from having a canine friend, he could also be happy as an only dog with plenty of human companionship.

He does show some signs of separation anxiety when left alone, so he would thrive in a home where someone is around often, or with another resident dog to help him feel secure. While this is something he will need support with, he has already shown that he is settling well into foster care. With patience, consistency and time to decompress in his forever home, he has every opportunity to continue building confidence and independence.

Due to his size and energy, Macklemore would be best suited to a home with a secure yard rather than apartment living. Secure, high fencing is recommended.

Macklemore is a truly special boy with an enormous heart. He’s looking for a family who will continue to guide him, support him and give him the love and stability he deserves.
