Storm is an absolutely gorgeous French Bulldog with a big personality, an affectionate nature and a very strong preference for being the centre of her human’s world.
She is a lilac pied Frenchie, with a predominantly white coat beautifully marked by soft, silvery-lilac patches. Lilac pied is an uncommon and particularly striking French Bulldog colouring, produced by the combination of the piebald pattern and the dilute blue and chocolate colour genes.
Storm is wonderfully cuddly and loves being close to people. She has many of the qualities that make French Bulldogs such appealing companions: she is expressive, comical, people-focused and full of character.
Storm is currently living with two other small dogs and has made it clear that she does not enjoy their company. For that reason, Storm must be the only dog in her new home.
An interesting aspect of Storm’s behaviour is that she currently refuses to come inside her foster home and cannot be coaxed through the door. Her foster carer believes this is because the other dogs are inside and Storm does not feel comfortable sharing that space with them.
In a home where she is the only dog, she is likely to feel very differently. Nevertheless, her adopters will need to allow her to make the transition to indoor life gradually and without pressure. Patience, treats and calm encouragement will be important.
Storm does not love cats, but she tolerates them. She may be able to live with a calm, confident and dog-savvy cat, provided introductions are gradual and carefully supervised. A cat-free home may be simpler for everyone.
Storm’s ideal home will offer:
✓ No other dogs—this is essential
✓ Plenty of human companionship and affection
✓ Patient encouragement as she adjusts to indoor life
✓ A secure yard where she can relax and explore safely
✓ People who understand the particular needs of a French Bulldog
She has had limited, but positive, exposure to children since being in care.
Special Care for a French Bulldog
As a flat-faced breed, Storm must be protected from overheating. She should not be walked or exercised during hot or humid weather, and summer outings should be limited to the cooler parts of the day.
She will need a cool indoor environment, access to fresh water and careful monitoring of her breathing. Her weight should be kept within a healthy range, and her skin folds, ears, eyes and teeth will require regular attention.
Storm is a beautiful little dog with affection to spare. She does not want a pack of canine friends. She wants her own person or family, her own space and the privilege of being their one and only dog.
For someone prepared to give her time to settle and allow her confidence to unfold naturally, Storm promises to be a cuddly, entertaining and devoted companion with unmistakable French Bulldog charm.

Medical notes
Storm has been examined by our consultant canine orthopaedic specialist, who advises that she has a breed-related structural deformity in the conformation of her pelvis and hind limbs, but that this is a common condition in the breed and does not require treatment.
Heartworm Information
Heartworm disease is uncommon in the Southern Downs, so ARK does not routinely heartworm test or administer heartworm prevention to dogs in our care. Should a successful applicant wish to have a heartworm test performed before adoption, we are happy to arrange this.
