About Dumpling
Dumpling is a desexed male Persian X available for adoption in North Melbourne (Melbourne, VIC).
Dumpling is a cat who knows exactly what he wants and isn't shy about getting it. Independent, a little cheeky, and full of personality, he's the kind of companion who chooses his own moments to be affectionate, and makes every one count.
Dumpling has a lovely way of coming around in his own time. He might tuck into a favourite hiding spot when he first meets someone new, but give him space and quiet encouragement and you'll see him relax, wander over, and settle in close.
At home with people he knows well, he's an entirely different cat: playful, affectionate, and always keen to be part of whatever's happening.
A little about Dumpling:
🐾 Greets you at the door with a stretch and a hello the moment you're home
🐾 Purrs on your chest at night and gives your cheek a gentle little paw
🐾 Comes running the second he hears a nail file, and loves being brushed
🐾 Rides along on pram walks, safe and snug the whole way
🐾 Kept his family guessing on his gender for six months before the vet set the record straight
Mornings start with Dumpling ready for breakfast, right on cue. Through the day, he potters about on his own, dozes in a favourite spot, or keeps a housemate company from a comfortable distance. He'll even turn up in the bathroom just to keep you company in the shower.
Evenings are his favourite part of the day: a feed, a play session, and a proper snuggle on the couch while the TV's on. He shows love in small, steady ways, rubbing against your legs, jumping up purring for a chest cuddle, and settling in next to you overnight.
With people he's just met, he likes to take stock first. Give him a little time, and you'll find a warm, easygoing cat who's happy to be involved in whatever you're doing.
Dumpling would flourish in a calm, adult household where he can be the only pet and the centre of attention, with all the fuss to himself. He does best as an indoor cat, genuinely content with a secure home base rather than outdoor access.
He'll suit a guardian who enjoys a homebody with plenty of personality, and who's happy to let him set the pace with new people and new spaces.
Indoors is exactly where Dumpling wants to be, and he settles happily without trying to slip out. His outdoor time is safely covered by pram walks around the park, which he genuinely loves.
Picture a quiet morning with Dumpling waiting by his bowl, an afternoon nap in a sunny spot, and an evening where he climbs onto your chest for a slow, purring cuddle. Weekends bring a jumper, a pram, and a wander through the park with his favourite person.
Dumpling is ready for a calm, steady home with someone who'll let him come out of his shell in his own time, and who'll love every cheeky, purring, nail-file-obsessed part of him once he does.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
