Adoption details
If you have found an animal that has captured your heart and you would like to learn more about them, please contact Council's Customer Service team on 1300 459 689 during normal business hours. Our team will be happy to provide further information and assist you with the next steps in the adoption process.
Please note that appointments are required to visit the Animal Care Facility. Our Customer Service team will work with you to arrange a suitable time to meet the animal and discuss the adoption process.
Our adoption fees include microchipping, desexing (where required), and lifetime registration where the animal has been desexed prior to adoption. If an animal is too young to be desexed at the time of adoption, a desexing voucher will be provided to assist with completing this requirement when the animal reaches the appropriate age. Where an animal is adopted with a desexing voucher, or is medically unable to be desexed, lifetime registration fees will be payable by the adopter.
Adoption fees are:
Female Cat – $200
Male Cat – $150
Female Dog – $280
Male Dog – $250
Approved rescue organisations – No charge
Where required, transport arrangements may be able to be organised to assist with the animal’s journey to their new home. Any transport costs will be the responsibility of the adopter or rescue organisation.
