About Mario
Mario’s story is one of resilience, hope, and second chances. This handsome big boy had been sitting in a high-risk rural pound since November 2025 when kennel staff reached out to us in early February, desperately hoping we could help.
Found wandering alone in a remote area, Mario was never claimed. His holding period came and went, then was extended well beyond the usual timeframe, but still nobody came for him.
The kennel staff quickly fell in love with his sweet, affectionate nature and couldn’t bear to see his story end there. Originally described as a mixed Bulldog puppy weighing an impressive 45kg, Mario also appeared to have limited vision and would regularly bump into objects around him.
Despite his challenges, nothing dampened his spirit. Mario adores other dogs and loves having a playmate, regardless of their size. A true big puppy at heart, he loves water, enjoys adventures, and is always keen to be involved in whatever his people are doing. Since entering foster care, he has made incredible progress and has even learned to live happily alongside the resident dog savvy cat. 🐈⬛
Mario is looking for a home that understands giant breeds and is committed to continuing his training and building his confidence. He thrives on companionship and would love a family who will include him in their daily lives, provide regular exercise and enrichment, and continue helping him navigate the world.
Because of his size and enthusiasm, he would be best suited to a home with older children. A confident canine companion would also be a wonderful match, although it’s not essential.
From spending months in a pound to becoming the squishy, cuddly giant he is today, Mario has shown just how much a dog can thrive when given a second chance.
Now all that’s missing is a forever family to call his own ❤️
