Teddy is a mature cat seeking a special forever home that can accommodate his shy and skittish nature. He has had a very turbulent and unsettled life so far and is just looking for some stability, peace and love.

At the age of 2, Teddy was dumped on the street with a microchip but not desexed by his first owner who denied ever having owned him. He was found by a member of the public who kept him for two months and then handed him to local animal services. He was then adopted by his previous owner for almost 3 years. They did a great job caring for him however unfortunately he was not cohabiting well with their other cat and for that reason he was surrendered to Brighter Future.

Teddy is highly skittish and very shy, he is afraid of being picked up, and will hide when he is feeling unsure. However he is gentle and does not show any signs of aggression such as hissing, growling, swiping or biting towards people.
Despite his shy nature, he does want human companionship and once he has developed trust, he becomes very affectionate. He loves getting rubs on his head, body or stomach. While in foster care, he has shown that he does become increasingly more trusting and loving with time. His previous carers have reported that he is very loving, and will even sit on their lap and fall asleep on them. He becomes quite vocal when he wants attention, and will happily meow, purr and head bunt.

Aside from being affectionate, Teddy does enjoy occasional play with a wand or ball, he likes to perch himself at the top of a cat tower to observe the world and sometimes he is a little goofy and lays on his back with his legs in the air.
He is relatively low maintenance, he does not scratch furniture or show any destructive tendencies, he is clean and uses the litter very reliably, he is not highly demanding and he is generally happy to be left alone when nobody is home.

He has cohabited with many cats during his life with mixed results, given this history and his recent surrender due to a failure to cohabit, it is not recommended that Teddy be kept with other cats, he will likely be happier on his own.

Teddy will thrive in a calm, quiet and stable household where he can be provided his own areas to hide and allowed to interact with people on his own terms. He would not be suited to a busy household, households with young children, needing to be handled regularly or households where he can’t be given his own space. He is highly compatible with people who are experienced cat owners, passionate about rescue animals, and would enjoy providing for and developing a strong bond with a shy cat.

He is in good health and is fully vaccinated, desexed and microchipped.
