About Merlin
Merlin is a happy, social and confident young pup. She’s extremely sweet and affectionate, but also playful, energetic and whip-smart. She’s cheeky and has a sense of humour, and is constantly making people laugh! She’s not your stereotypical greyhound (though she does love a good snooze) - she has heaps of energy and wants to do all the things!
Merlin loves to learn! She’s a big fan of training and picks things up very quickly. So far she’s learning place/bed, spin, touch and “step up”. She is developing a good “yes” marker, responds beautifully to leash pressure so is great on a walk. Her smarts also mean that Merlin can push boundaries and be a bit cheeky - after all she is but a young pup!
Merlin loves to run and chase - she is fairly prey and toy-driven and enjoys sprinting around with toys or playing fetch and tug. However, she’s also content with one or two 30 minute walks where she’s allowed to wander, sniff and see new things. She would ideally be best suited to a an active home with a yard where she can get all that puppy energy out!
What Merlin loves most, though, is people. She is extremely social - if she is walking and someone is going past or even glances at her she will wiggle her whole body in excitement, expecting a pat. She loves cuddles, waking you up in the morning with whining, snuffles and kisses. She can get a bit overexcited with people - this means she can jump (even put her paws on shoulders) and mouth/nibble. For that reason, Merlin is not yet ready to be in a household with small children.
Merlin would love a forever home with people who are experienced with (young) dogs, and who are interested in continuing her training - boundaries are very important for her as she can still be a cheeky puppy! She loves her people and wants to be involved in everything that is going on, so would love to be in a home where people are home more often than not.

STEP 2 – LET'S CHAT:
We'll phone you to discuss suitability, clarify any points of your application and chat process and next steps.
STEP 3 – HOUSE CHECK & MEET + GREET:
We'll come to you! The meet + greet is conducted at the same time that a house check is carried out. The meet + greet is the day that your newly adopted greyhound will be able to stay on with you.
Our adoption fee is $375.00 and must be paid before the meet + greet, and prior to starting your 3 week trial. Support from our team is freely available. If you have any issues, we urge you to contact us to try and work through them, as all rescue greyhounds have some period of adjustment.
If after the 3 week trial, you feel that you need to return the greyhound, we will refund your adoption fee (less a $50 administration fee), upon return of the dog and all paperwork and other items that the dog was adopted with.
All of our hounds are adopted out with the following:
> Collar, lead & coat
