No... he's not actually a chicken. 🍗😂

Although when it comes finding food he's like a little bin chicken... and that's exactly how he got his name! 💛

This gorgeous boy was found wandering the railway tracks all alone on 29 July. 😢 Thankfully, some kind members of the public stopped to help and rushed him to the vet after noticing painful bite wounds across his face.

Sadly, we don't know anything about Chicken's life before coming into our care. 💔 What we do know is that this sweet puppy has survived more than any youngster ever should. Judging by the size and placement of the wounds, we suspect he was attacked by another dog.

Despite all of that...

✨ He STILL loves every single person he meets.
✨ He STILL has the happiest puppy wiggles.
✨ He STILL believes every human is his new best friend.

And honestly... he's just the sweetest little soul. ❤️

🐶 About Chicken

🐾 Approx. 8-10 months old
⚖️ Around 19kg
🩺 Healthy, bright and happy
🐕 We believe he's a Labrador x Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix

Chicken arrived very underweight, so we joke that he's a little "bin chicken" (ibis). 😂 He clearly became an expert scavenger while trying to survive on his own, so don't be surprised if he keeps one hopeful eye on your sandwich! 🥪👀

The good news? His love of food makes him an absolute dream to train! 🍖

🥰 What's he like?

Think... labrador x staffy happy puppy. 🐾

💛 Loves EVERY person.
🎾 Bouncy and playful.
🐶 Loves being with his humans.
🍖 Super food motivated.
🧸 Not destructive with his toys.
🏡 Not an escape artist.
🔇 Not a barker (although he'll occasionally have a little puppy whinge because... well... puppies 😅).

He doesn't know his basic commands yet, but he's eager to learn and will thrive with positive, reward-based training.

🐕 What about other dogs?

This is where our brave little Chicken needs your understanding. ❤️

He's very frightened of other dogs.

At the pound, he'll happily ignore them from a distance, but if they come up to him, he'll often cower or growl. This isn't because he's a "bad dog"—it's because he's scared.

Imagine being a baby, living on the streets and being attacked. That would leave anyone cautious.

Because of this, we're looking for an only-dog home where Chicken can finally relax and learn that life is safe again. With patience, kindness and positive training, we believe he can continue building confidence around other dogs. He's still just a puppy with his whole future ahead of him. ❤️

🐱 Cats?

We did cat test Chicken!

When the cat hissed at him... Chicken politely backed away like, "Okay, sorry mate!" 😂

He does show a higher prey drive during play (especially with a flirt pole), so any home with cats would need careful management and slow introductions.

👂 Is he deaf?

We're honestly not sure.

Sometimes he doesn't seem to hear us... but that could also just be normal distracted puppy behaviour. Confirming deafness requires specialist veterinary testing, which council won't be carrying out.

Whatever the case, it certainly doesn't stop him from being a happy, playful little guy. ❤️

🏡 Chicken's dream home

✅ Indoor/outdoor home where he's part of the family.
✅ No other resident dogs for now while he learns to trust again.
✅ Dog-savvy kids who understand puppies can be jumpy.
✅ A family committed to puppy school or obedience classes.
✅ Lots of treats. (Chicken insists this point is non-negotiable. 🍗😂)

This boy has missed out on so much already.

He shouldn't have to spend his puppy months growing up in a pound.

He deserves soft beds. 🛏️

He deserves full bowls. 🍽️

He deserves cuddles. 🤗

Most of all...

He deserves someone who'll show him that not every day has to be about surviving.
