About Stumpy
Introducing Stumpy!
Stumpy is a Border Collie x Jack Russell born approx 1st July 2025.
Stumpy was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray & sadly no-one came looking for him.
Since being at the facility Stumpy has been a gorgeous ball of energy, excitement & love. Don't let his short legs fool you, he is a working breed at heart. He will bark for attention if you ignore him for too long, he is smart & eager to learn, he's full of beans with energy to burn & if you're really lucky he'll try to herd you around his exercise run. On the flip side to his working nature, he's an incredibly sweet boy who loves to cuddle (he will climb in your lap if you let him), he's affectionate and will smother you in kisses. He's also loyal, hilarious & his thirst for life oozes from every fibre of his being.
Stumpy tested well with other dogs at the facility & we've now been told that he's previously lived with another dog. He appeared to be quite comfortable with both large & small dogs and was happy to sniff & be sniffed by them. He was growled at when trying to initiate play with the smaller dog and he was non-reactive in return. We believe Eiffel could be suitable to live with another dog, or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have another dog/s at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Stumpy tested quite well with cats at the facility. He appeared to be quite scared at first & tried hiding in his handler's lap, but as his confidence started to grow he started showing a general interest in sniffing our facility cat Polly. He was easily distracted during this interaction & no aggression was seen. We believe Stumpy could be suitable to live with cats, if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Stumpy has not been tested with pocket pets at this time.
Stumpy has shown no signs of food aggression since being at the facility, however he has shown mild signs of separation anxiety. He will have a bark here & there, but he's usually able to settle himself quickly & go about his business. We've also found that he looks for holes under gates, so he will need secure fencing to ensure he doesn't go for a wander.
Stumpy would love to be adopted to an owner/family who will include him in their day to day life & be a cherished member of the family.
If you think you could be that furever family for Stumpy, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900272 to organise a meet and greet.
Stumpy’s adoption fee is $600, and this includes his desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. Stumpy is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Stumpy is currently located in East Maitland.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
