Pogey is an affectionate, clever and curious little dog who forms a strong attachment to his people. He is very much an inside dog and wants to be included in daily family life.
After spending time in foster care, Pogey has made one thing quite clear: he would prefer not to share his humans with another dog.
He can become jealous when attention is directed towards a canine companion, so his best home will be one where he is the only dog. He may possibly be able to live with a much larger, calm and tolerant dog with clear boundaries, following careful introductions, but an only-dog home is preferred.
Pogey is crate-trained and comfortable using his crate as a secure place to settle.
He loves the older children in his foster home and is cat-tolerant.
Pogey is a clever little fellow and can also be something of an escape artist. Secure fencing is therefore essential. He is capable of digging under some fences if left to his own devices.
Pogey came into care with a significant flea allergy. This has responded very well to treatment and is now almost completely healed, with very little scratching.
His teeth are worn from the amount of chewing he previously did when his skin was terribly itchy, but they are not painful.
Pogey’s ideal home will offer:
✓ A home where he can be the only dog
✓ Plenty of human companionship and affection
✓ Indoor access and inclusion in family life
✓ Secure fencing
✓ A calm, consistent routine
✓ Continued use of his crate as a safe and comfortable space
Pogey is a devoted little character who wants nothing more than a secure home and people of his own to love. For someone seeking a loyal, affectionate companion who will happily make them the centre of his world, Pogey may be the perfect match.
