About Dobby
🐾 Dobby 🐾
Do you hate having personal space?
Do have a laissez-faire attitude about your socks?
Are you willing to share your snacks (whether you planned to or not)?
Do you have plenty of love, patience, and a good sense of humour?
If you answered "yes," then Dobby might just be your perfect match.
Dobby is a 2½-year-old Cavoodle who lives life at 1,000 miles an hour. He's incredibly clever, endlessly curious, and absolutely bursting with personality. He learns quickly, loves training, and thrives when his brain is kept busy. Consistent, positive training is essential—not only to continue building his skills, but also to boost his confidence and help keep his mischievous streak under control.
When he's had enough mental and physical exercise, Dobby transforms into the ultimate cuddle companion. He loves chasing a ball at the park, playing with toys, and working on snuffle mats and lick mats. At the end of the day, he'll happily curl up beside you on the couch or in bed, doubling as the perfect heat pack during cold Melbourne winters.
Now, let's talk about Dobby's quirks—because every great character has a few.
Dobby has a serious passion for stealing things he shouldn't have. Socks are his absolute favourite (he'll happily remove one from your hand while you'retrying to put it on), but undies, scrunchies, unattended snacks, and mysterious treasures found on walks are all fair game. He also displays resource guarding around these prized possessions and food, so he'll need experienced owners who can continue managing this behaviour using positive reinforcement. For this reason, Dobby is not suitable for a home with young children.
Dobby is also an anxious little guy. He takes a daily anti-anxiety medication and finds grooming and veterinary visits particularly stressful. He will need sedated veterinary grooming to keep his coat healthy and comfortable, so his future family needs to be prepared for the ongoing additional financial commitment this involves.
Inside the home, Dobby can be reactive to loud noises and unfamiliar people. He's currently living in an apartment but would likely be much happier in a detached home with fewer environmental triggers, making life less stressful for him.
Dobby currently lives with another small dog after a careful introduction and adjustment period, but he would most likely thrive as the only dog in the household.
