About Bruiser
Meet Bruiser! 🐾
Don't let his age fool you—9-year-old Bruiser still has the zest and energy of a young dog! This adorable Maltese x Fox Terrier absolutely loves his toys, and his favourite thing is having someone join in the fun. Whether it's a game of tug, fetch, or just playing together, Bruiser is happiest when he gets to share his toys with his humans.
Bruiser is newly toilet trained, knows how to use a dog door, and has settled beautifully into home life. He's an incredibly sweet boy who loves a good belly rub and affection, although he's usually far too excited about life to sit still for long unless he's tired and ready to relax. His big smile and constantly wagging tail have a way of lighting up the room.
Bruiser walks well on lead and absolutely loves playing with dogs he knows and feels comfortable with. Once he's formed a doggie friendship, he has a wonderful time playing and really enjoys having another dog around. He would likely thrive in a home with a playful canine companion that can be introduced carefully. An active household, or a family with children who would enjoy an energetic little playmate, would suit him beautifully.
Bruiser's biggest challenge is that he can be reactive towards unfamiliar dogs and people, particularly in new environments or when he feels unsure. Because of this, he'll need an adopter who understands that building his confidence will take patience, consistency, and ongoing positive reinforcement training. The good news is that he's already making encouraging progress in foster care, and with the right guidance, we expect him to continue improving. His future family should be prepared to continue this journey with him and help him feel safe and secure as he learns to navigate the world with confidence. Another confident doggie friend for him to look up to would also really help in this situation.
Bruiser is a loving, playful, and affectionate little dog with so much personality to share. He's looking for a home that will embrace both his joyful, fun-loving nature and support him with the areas where he still needs a little extra help. In return, you'll gain a loyal little companion with endless enthusiasm, a constantly wagging tail, and a smile that will brighten every day.
