About Petunia
Behind Petunia's cautious nature is a sweet girl who's simply waiting to feel safe again.
Petunia has found shelter life quite overwhelming, and it's understandable that she can seem nervous when meeting new people. However, we've also seen that, with a little patience and a calm approach, she begins to relax. Offer her a tasty treat, give her the time she needs, and her curiosity slowly starts to take over. Her previous family shared that she loved head scratches, enjoyed playing, and was happiest after she'd had around 30 minutes to get comfortable with visitors.
We truly believe Petunia will blossom once she's back in a quiet home environment. Some cats simply need a little longer to adjust, and Petunia is one of those cats whose trust is incredibly rewarding to earn. She has already shown us that, given time, she's capable of becoming a gentle and affectionate companion.
Petunia has also had a minor Grade 1-2 dental condition treated while in our care. Going forward, her new family will simply need to continue supporting her dental health with regular home dental care, including tooth brushing and a dental-friendly diet.
If you have a calm home and the patience to let a shy cat settle in at her own pace, Petunia could be the perfect companion. We encourage you to come and meet Petunia at our North Melbourne shelter as soon as possible, as our cats cannot be placed on hold. We would love to see this lovely girl finally enjoy the comfort of a home again.
