Pierre - 6 Year Old Groodle

Pierre is a 6-year-old male groodle looking for a patient and dedicated person to love, snuggle and enjoy life together.

Pierre is learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and be a part of a family. He is a sweet, loyal boy who forms a strong bond with his person, but he needs time, patience, and understanding to build his trust.

Due to his limited life experience, Pierre is easily startled by loud noises or unfamiliar people. He needs a calm, quiet home with no children or teenagers. An adult-only household where someone is home most of the time would be ideal, allowing him to settle in at his own pace and continue to build his confidence with the support of his person close by to reassure and encourage him.

Pierre can resource guard valued items, spaces, and the person he trusts. For this reason, he would be best as the only dog in the home at this stage, although the possibility of a suitable canine companion may be considered in the future, as he has lived with multiple dogs.

Pierre walks nicely on lead and enjoys getting out and about, although he is still discovering why walks are so much fun! Gentle, regular exercise will help strengthen his back legs, and while he isn't a high-energy dog, he enjoys enrichment and mental stimulation. He is toilet trained, confidently uses a doggy door, and has had no accidents in the house. He is also beginning to accept treats from people's hands and is slowly discovering that good things come from trusting humans.

Pierre has not had any basic training and will need time to decompress before expecting too much of him. He has already started working with a trainer and is already growing in confidence and learning the skills he has never had the chance to develop.

Behind his fearful exterior is a gentle, loving dog who simply wants to feel safe. With patience, consistency, and kindness, Pierre will blossom into the sweetest, most devoted and loyal companion. He just needs a patient and dedicated owner to help him meet his potential.

Pierre has a low shedding coat which needs regular brushing, and professional clipping every 4 to 6 weeks to keep him comfortable and healthy.

Pierre is an inside dog and needs to be allowed inside, at least when people are home, and to sleep inside.

Pierre is in foster care in Newcastle, NSW. He is not available for adoption interstate. His adoption fee is $700 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
