About Russell
Hello there! I’m Russell, and I’m officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR RUSSELL
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM

My Ideal Home:
• Familiarity and understanding of my breed traits would be highly valued.
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• Ongoing training and guidance with basic manners will help me grow into a well-behaved companion.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• A good-quality dry food diet will help support my dental health.
• Regular grooming and brushing will keep me looking and feeling my best.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• Training, training, training — it’s essential that I receive consistent guidance in every aspect of my life so I can become the very best companion as I mature.
• I have lots of energy, so I’ll need an active family who can keep up with me and take me on lots of adventure, hikes, and walks.
• I have previously lived with young children, but we didn't exactly get on, no kids in my new home please. I prefer mature adults.
• I need to be the only dog in the home, as I can become jealous and may not share my space well. I’m comfortable seeing other dogs while out on walks or at daycare/boarding, but I prefer not to interact closely with them.
• A home without cats would be best for me, as I’m highly likely to chase them.
My Paw-some Perks:
• I’m a very playful, happy pup with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I’m excited.
• I’m highly food motivated, which makes training lots of fun and helps me learn quickly. I also know my gentle command to not snatch treats from you.
• I walk nicely on lead for a young dog, and with daily walks I’ll only keep improving.
• I appear housetrained and am used to being allowed indoors as part of the family, I even have had some crate training and happily sleep in one of a night.
• I’m generally a well-mannered dog. I know my basic commands like sit, shake and stay, and I’m always eager to learn more and brush up on my day-to-day manners.
• I absolutely love attention, cuddles, hugs, kisses and head scratches, and I’m quite partial to snoozing on the couch with my humans.
• I LOVE toys — especially my ball! Fetch and tug-of-war are some of my favourite games. I can be bit vocal when playing tug-o-war, but I will eventually give it up to be thrown again. Hogging it is a part of the game.
• I’m exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
• I’m clever, enthusiastic, and would thrive with a family who’ll continue my training and maybe even teach me some cool new tricks.
Training/Support Needs:
• Positive reinforcement and interactions with vets are highly recommended as I am fearful with vets/at vet visits and can become a bit hard to handle.
• I can be a little bouncy when excited, but consistent training will help me learn calmer behaviours.
• I can be nervous around other dogs and may react if they’re too full-on or reactive towards me. Controlled, positive socialisation experiences will help me build confidence and learn that other dogs aren’t so scary.
• I do show some resource guarding around food and high value treats. I will trade happily for something higher in value, and with patience, consistency, and positive training, this is something we can continue to work through together.
• I’ve lived in the same home my whole life and had very little exposure to the outside world. Everything is quite new to me, so I’ll need a patient family to gently socialise me and show me that the world isn’t such a scary place.
Please Note: You’ll only be able to meet Russell if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
