Hi, I'm Flossy.

I'm a quiet, gentle girl with a sweet nature and a heart that's just looking for someone to love.

I'm still learning that the world is a safe place, so I can be a little timid at first. Sudden movements can startle me, but I am inquisitive and like to explore and sus out new things too. It doesn't take long for me to warm up and I'll happily follow you from room to room, keeping you company while you go about your day. I like to think of myself as your little helper.

One thing you'll notice straight away is just how incredibly tiny I am. I'm so light to pick up and so light on my feet that my foster family jokes I think I'm a cat! I'll quietly scale the couch or make little jumps onto the coffee table just to see what's going on. Despite my tiny size, I'm quite the little explorer.

I'm definitely an indoor companion and absolutely adore being close to my people. While I'm not really a sit-on-your-lap kind of dog, I do like to use you as my home base. I'll happily wander around the house, investigate things, chew on a toy, then come back to settle beside you before heading off on my next little adventure. Your company is my favourite place to be.

Because of this, I'm not suited to a home where I'm left alone for long hours. If I'm outside by myself or shut in another room away from you, I'll let you know I'm unhappy by barking or crying until we're back together. At bedtime, there's only one place I want to be... curled up against your legs in the human bed. You won't even know I'm there!

I've been told I get along well with other dogs. While I haven't shown a huge interest in playing yet, I think I'd enjoy the company of another gentle little indoor dog with a similar personality. I'm also wonderfully gentle around babies and children. I'm happy to be around them, but I'd prefer children who understand not to carry me around or grab at me. Once I've chosen my favourite grown-up, I'll happily shadow them everywhere they go.

I'm toilet trained too, which makes settling into a new home that little bit easier and after a few days of settling in I will wait or scratch at the door to be let out. Or use a puppy pee pad. I also have a lovely easy-care coat that doesn't require much grooming to keep it looking beautiful, although I do shed a little like a typical Foxy coat.

Because I'm such a tiny little girl, my new home will need very secure fencing. I'm surprisingly clever and will happily inspect every inch of the yard. If there's a loose fence panel, something I can squeeze behind, or a spot where I can dig my way out, I'll probably find it. It doesn't take much of a gap for a little dog like me, so secure fencing is essential to keep me safe.

I came from a farm, but I wasn't suited to life around the horses. My owners made the difficult decision to take me to the vet to say goodbye. Thankfully, the vet saw what a lovely girl I really am and knew I deserved another chance. They contacted GPAWS, and that's how I found my way into foster care.

Being left alone or riding in the car can make me feel a little anxious, but that's only because I love being close to my people. I'm still building my confidence every day. I do seem to feel more comfortable around women at first, although I'm slowly warming up to the man in my foster home with a little patience and kindness.

I haven't learnt all the basics like "sit" and "stay" just yet, and my recall could use some work too... but I'm eager to please and with gentle, positive training I'm sure I'll get there.

If you're looking for a calm, loving little shadow who will quietly follow you around the house, sleep snuggled beside you every night, and be your constant companion, I might just be your perfect match. I'd make a great companion for a retired lady/couple who are home lots with me.

All I need is someone willing to be patient with me while I learn that this big world isn't so scary anymore. I promise I'll love you with all my heart.

PS: Due to my nervousness and not being comfortable in a car. If my adopters are from out of town they will need to be able to travel and come to collect me as a dog freight company would be far too scary for me.-
