Meet Rocket! 🦝💙

If you've ever watched Guardians of the Galaxy, you'll know exactly where Rocket got his name! With his adorable face and cheeky expression, he looks just like Rocket Raccoon. 🦝💙

Rocket is a young Blue Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) cross who came into our care on the 25/7, he was sadly dumped in the pound's front pens wearing a chain attached to his collar, with no microchip and no information about where he'd come from. Can be adopted from 3/8/26 if not claimed during impound time.

Because of this, his past is completely unknown—but we're excited to help him find the future he deserves.

💙 About Rocket

Rocket is still settling into pound life and is slowly letting his personality shine through.

He's a sweet, gentle boy who can be a little timid when meeting new people, but he's never shown any aggression towards staff.

He is:
🐾 Around 20kg
🐾 Underweight (so treats are definitely the way to his heart! 🍖)
🐾 Knows sit and shake
🐾 Quiet and not very vocal
🐾 Doesn't jump up on people
🐾 Independent and happy entertaining himself
🐾 Listening better every single day
🐾 Not an escape artist

Rocket can be easily startled by raised voices and things like hoses, so he'll need a patient family who can help him build confidence at his own pace.

Every day we see a little more of the happy, clever boy hiding underneath, and we can't wait to watch him continue to blossom in a loving home.

🐕 What Home Does Rocket Need?

Rocket would thrive in a home where he has space to explore and plenty to keep his clever mind busy.

🏡 His ideal home would have:
✅ A secure grassed backyard or rural property
✅ Owners committed to training and building his confidence
✅ Daily exercise and mental enrichment
✅ A calm, patient environment

He'll also benefit from continued lead training, as it's clear he hasn't had a lot of experience with busy town life.

Rocket has shown interest in the female dogs here at the pound and may be able to live with a friendly, desexed female dog, pending a successful meet and greet.

🚫 As Rocket is still settling in and we don't know his history, we feel a home without cats or young children would be the best fit for now.

Originally bred to move cattle across long distances, they love having a job to do and thrive when their minds are kept busy.

Heelers aren't usually happy being backyard ornaments. They need daily exercise, training and enrichment to be their best selves.
