About Trixie
Introducing Trixie!
Trixie is a Cattle Dog x born approx 1st October 2025.
Trixie was brought to the facility as an unmicrochipped stray & sadly no one came looking for her.
Since being at the facility we've noticed some very upsetting behaviours. When we try to put a lead/collar on Trixie, she becomes instantly terrified. She drops to the ground, trembles from head to toe and tries to back as far away from us as possible. She also seems scared & frantic in open spaces. In saying this, when Trixie is in our exercise run & she's with people she trusts, she's like a completely different dog. She comes up to us for cuddles, loves her treats and we've noticed when she starts to get really happy & excited she's started smiling which is absolutely adorable.
While Trixie may take a little time to get settled into her new home, we know she will be the most loyal & loving member of her new family. She just needs a patient owner to show her that humans can be trusted & kind.
As Trixie is so scared of being on lead it was hard to do her dog testing as she backed herself into a corner. When the other dog came up to say hello Trixie gave a little growl, but we believe this was a fear reaction & not aggression. While Trixie may be able to live with other dogs in the future, we feel (for the time being) she would be best suited as an only dog. In saying this, we are still open to doing meet & greets with existing animals, as long as they are calm and gentle.
Trixie is currently untested with cats & pocket pets.
Trixie has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Trixie would love to be adopted to a home where she is included as a member of the family.
If you think you could be that furever family for Trixie, please contact our friendly staff via email at ccacfpetadoptions@gmail.com or 0499 900272 to organise a meet and greet.
Trixie’s adoption fee is $500, and this includes her desexing, vaccination and lifetime registration. Trixie is also regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Trixie is currently located in East Maitland.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
