Unmasking Orville Peck 🤠

The little outlaw with a heart of gold.

If dogs could sing country ballads, Orville Peck would have a voice that could melt hearts... right before he stole your toys and zoomed around the backyard like he'd just won the rodeo.

Orville Peck is a handsome cross between kelpie, staffy, and something fluffy – we suspect a teddy bear. He has a thick coat to snuggle up to, the cutest boofhead and enough personality to keep you smiling every day.

He's a stocky young bloke who's still growing into his feet, is full of curiosity and a zest for life. He's goofy. He's affectionate. He's full of character. He lives life at full volume, until his batteries drain and suddenly he’s sound asleep. One minute he's charging around the yard like he's chasing tumbleweeds across the prairie, the next he's climbing into your lap convinced he's actually a tiny puppy who belongs there.
Because, in his mind... he does.

🤍 The good stuff
Orville Peck is equal parts clown and cuddle bug.
He absolutely adores his people and loves nothing more than being included in whatever you're doing. Whether you're cooking, working outside, reading a book, or going for a drive, he'll happily volunteer as your slightly oversized shadow.

Playtime is his favourite time. He loves his toys, especially anything that squeaks or can be used for a good game of tug. Balls are fine but not his favourite. Give him a rope toy and a willing playmate though and Orville Peck is in his element.
When playtime is over, he's more than happy to curl up beside you for some well-earned affection.

🌟 A clever young boy who’s learning every day, and with youth comes a little impulsiveness.
Like many young working-breed mixes, Orville Peck is still learning that the world isn't one giant invitation to investigate absolutely everything. He is a smart cookie and is already learning that good manners earn rewards.

He has discovered that his crate is a safe space and usually sleeps through the night. He already knows ‘sit’ and patiently waits for his dinner until he's given the okay, and his toilet training is 99% there.
He's making good progress learning to walk nicely on lead. Until recently, he had not had much exposure to urban life noises and consequently he can sometimes be reactive to moving objects (mainly bikes). He has improved markedly in a short time but will need an experienced owner who can continue to give him confidence through training. With patience, consistency and positive reinforcement.

He's bright, eager to engage and responds well to structure - he simply needs someone committed to helping him become the wonderful adult dog we know he's capable of being.

🐕 Orville Peck is a social butterfly with plenty of enthusiasm.
He loves playing with other dogs and would happily spend hours wrestling and playing chase.
He hasn't quite mastered the art of moderation. His enthusiasm can be a bit much for quieter or older dogs so he'd be best matched with a confident, playful canine companion who enjoys a good rough-and-tumble or as the only dog receiving plenty of interaction from his humans.

Orville Peck's ideal people appreciate goofy, affectionate dogs with big personalities. He would thrive with a family, couple or individual who understands active, intelligent dogs and enjoys training and wants a dog who’s part of everyday life.
His ideal home would offer:
– An experienced, patient, and confident owner.
– Daily exercise, mental enrichment and interactive play.
– Ongoing positive training, structure and clear boundaries.
– A secure yard.
– Possibly a doggy friend.
– People who see past the exuberance and know that underneath is a young dog who simply wants to belong.
– Lots of love, cuddles and inclusion in family life.

He has not been tested with children, but he has displayed positive interest. Given his affectionate nature, we think he could do well with older, dog-savvy children who understand that young, energetic dogs sometimes forget how big they are.
He's looking for someone who'll laugh at his goofy antics, continue helping him learn about the world, embrace his enormous personality, guide him through the last stages of growing up, and love him for the wonderful dog he already is.
In return, you'll get a loyal best mate, an enthusiastic adventure buddy, and one of the most affectionate dogs you'll ever meet.
