Washington

Washington is a young, sensitive horse who is still learning to feel confident around people. With minimal prior handling experience, he can be quite nervous and unsure, particularly when being approached or caught, but underneath his worries is a genuinely sweet-natured horse looking for someone he can trust, in shelter he has shown progress with his confidence and once caught, Washington becomes more manageable and responsive to handling, although he still lacks confidence when being led and will benefit from continued guidance and reassurance.

Washington will require a calm, patient and experienced owner who understands nervous or previously unhandled horses and is willing to work at his pace. He is not suitable for riding at this time and will need consistent, gentle handling and positive training to help build his confidence and develop his basic horse skills. His adopter must be committed to investing time in his ongoing behavioural development and understand that progress will come through trust, consistency and patience.

He has handled veterinary and farrier work reasonably well, but remains a very sensitive horse when it comes to catching and close human interaction. With the right guidance, understanding and a supportive environment, Washington has the potential to grow into a much more confident and manageable horse, making the journey incredibly rewarding for the right adopter.
