About Scamp
Introducing Scamp a really sociable, happy and affectionate little boy who will make wonderful pet for the right household. This dog absolutely loves people and other dogs and is a playful little chap whose tail is constantly wagging. Although he recently came into care, he has fitted so well into his foster home he is ready to find his forever family.
Scamp loves to be out and about. He behaved perfectly on a recent trip to Bunnings and was at the ACE (Council’s pound) stall at the Cairns show where he got so many hugs and pats that he had to have a puppy nap on the white fluffy bed.
Scamp was found beside the highway south of Cairns and was taken to the ACE. He is a mixed breed dog and is estimated to be about 11 weeks old. He currently weighs about 4 kgs but has some growing to do. He has lively soft tan fur with splashes of white including on the tip of his tail. He loves his food so he will soon lose the skinny look he had when he came into care; the expectation is that he will be on the smaller side of medium size.
Since coming into care, Scamp has learnt to walk on a lead which he loves and welcomes getting his harness on. He is in care with other dogs (male and female) and gets on well with all of them. He initiates play but he can get overexcited at times but the older female dog soon calms him down. This boy has also discovered toys and loves the squeaky ones! Sometimes he can’t decide which toy to get from the toy basket so he sits in it so he can have them all.
Because he loves company, Scamp is best suited to a home situation where he has constant companionship. He will do particularly well with another playful dog which is small to medium in size. Although he has progressed a great deal while in care, Scamp needs an adopter who is is willing to continue with his training - the result will be a wonderful family pet as he loves his people and being close to them. Training will be easy as he is very food motivated and has excellent recall. Although Scamp loves going for walks, exploring the garden, playing outdoors with his foster siblings and doing zoomies, he is predominantly an indoor dog.
