About Chip
🐾 Meet Chip – Your Little Shadow, Snuggle Buddy & Professional Toy Collector! 🐾
If you've been searching for a best friend who will make you smile every single day, then we'd love to introduce you to Chip.
This gorgeous 3-year-old Maltese x Shih Tzu came into Paw Prints Canine Rescue through no fault of his own and is now ready to find the forever family he truly deserves. Weighing just 8.1kg, Chip is the perfect size for cuddles, adventures, and warming your lap whenever you sit down.
Chip is one of those rare little dogs who has the most beautiful balance of playful puppy energy and a calm, affectionate nature. One minute he'll be zooming around the backyard chasing toys with pure joy, happily joining in with whatever fun is happening, and the next he'll be curled up beside you, sound asleep, completely content just being close to his favourite people.
And that's exactly what Chip loves most... his people.
He's a true little velcro dog who will happily follow you from room to room just to keep you company. Whether you're working in the home office, cooking dinner, folding washing or relaxing on the couch, Chip simply wants to be wherever you are. He'll quietly lie at your feet with those sweet little eyes that seem to say, "I'm happy as long as I'm with you."
Because he loves being part of everyday life, Chip would absolutely thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not. Whether you work from home, are a stay-at-home parent, are retired, or work shift hours that mean someone is usually home, Chip would be in his element. While he settles happily in his crate for short periods when his family heads out, he truly flourishes when he can simply be near his people, quietly keeping them company throughout the day.
Chip has been absolutely wonderful in foster care with children aged 7, 8 and 10. He adores being involved in family life, happily joining in backyard games, chasing balls, exploring blanket forts and, perhaps most adorably of all, wandering into each child's bedroom at bedtime to make sure everyone receives a goodnight cuddle. He's incredibly gentle, affectionate and patient, making him a beautiful little companion for a family.
He's also fantastic with other small dogs and loves having friends to run, chase and play with. That said, Chip isn't dependent on another dog for happiness. While he enjoys canine company, he is just as content soaking up all the love from his humans, making him suitable for either a home with another friendly dog or one where he can be the centre of your world.
Chip is fully crate trained and happily settles in his crate when his foster family heads out for short periods. He's toilet trained, walks beautifully on lead, and absolutely lights up when he sees his lead come out because he knows it's time for one of his favourite activities—a stroll around the lake. He happily enjoys a 30-minute walk each day, greeting the world with curiosity but never worrying about passing dogs or people.
Of course, every great little character has their own funny quirks... and Chip's might just steal your heart.
He's convinced he's the household organiser.
Shoes? They'll mysteriously appear downstairs.
Your child's favourite teddy? Chip has thoughtfully relocated it.
A random slipper? He's probably carrying it proudly through the house.
The best part? He rarely damages anything—he simply enjoys collecting treasures and moving them from room to room as though he's redecorating the house one item at a time!
Like most Maltese x Shih Tzus, Chip will need regular grooming to keep his beautiful coat looking and feeling its best.
Chip isn't just a lovely little dog—he's the kind of dog that becomes part of your heart. His gentle nature, cheeky personality and endless affection make him the sort of companion who brings comfort after a long day, laughter with his funny antics, and unconditional love every single day.
Whoever welcomes Chip into their family won't just be adopting a dog...
They'll be gaining a loyal little best friend who will love them with his whole heart.
