Meet Cosmo: a gentle big boy with a lot of love to give!

Cosmo is a lovely, affectionate boy who is hoping to find a kind person to open their heart and home to him.

He can be a little shy when he first meets new people, but it's easily fixed... the way to Cosmo's heart is through his stomach! Offer him a tasty meal or treat and he'll quickly warm up and become your loyal best friend! Once he knows you, Cosmo loves to be in your company and will happily follow you from room to room, always staying close by. We're not sure how Cosmo is with children, so a home with older kids or adults may suit him best.

When Cosmo was rescued from the pound, we discovered he is FIV positive (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Please don't let that put you off: Cosmo is in great health, and with good food, annual vet checks and a loving home, cats with FIV can live just as long as any other cat.

**About FIV**

- FIV cannot be passed to humans or dogs.
- It is only spread between cats, usually through deep bite wounds from fighting.
- Cosmo may be more vulnerable to infections, so he's best suited to living indoors.

Because of the risk of fighting and passing on FIV to other cats, Cosmo would do best as the only cat in his home. He gets along beautifully with dogs though, and is completely comfortable living with the two dogs in his foster home. This curious, adventurous boy would also love a secure outdoor enclosure (a "catio") to enjoy fresh air safely, if you're able to provide one.

MEDICAL NOTES
Adoption fee includes vet check, vaccination, flea and worm treatment, microchip - including the transfer of ownership - and sterilisation.
Cosmo has FIV. He is currently healthy however FIV leads to a weakened immune system leaving cats more vulnerable to infections than regular cats. Vet visits every six months, good quality food, living indoors only, and a low stress environment, are recommended for FIV positive cats.

ADOPTION DETAILS
To apply to adopt, please complete a SAFE Cat Adoption Enquiry Form via our website. You will be advised if your chosen cat is still available and then put in contact with the carer for a chance to ask further questions. If a meet-and-greet is then arranged, we will email the adoption paperwork and payment instructions to you prior to this. Please note payment must be made before adoption trial starts and we are unable to take cash payment.

Our adoption process includes a two-week trial to ensure your chosen cat is the right fit for your home. After a successful trial period, SAFE Bunbury will arrange transfer of ownership on your new pet's microchip and email copies of their vet records out to you.
