sophie is a lovely, sweet little girl that has settled well in care. Salukis are not for everyone though, and it's very important to understand the breed before considering adopting one. Salukis are sight hounds and as such, have particular requirements to keep them safe and happy. Below is some general information about the breed, but please be sure to research them in depth before making an enquiry, as sophie will only be available to a home that has a good understanding of the breed and the ability to meet their requirements. Salukis are exotic, beautiful, and spirited. They are clean, do not shed much, and draw lots of attention when taken for a walk in the neighborhood. But they are also hunters with thousands of years of purposeful breeding behind them. They will run after anything that is fuzzy and moves, and will sometimes catch and kill their targets. Salukis are not to be trusted off leash in an unsafe area. Also, salukis are much too fast and clever to catch if they accidentally sneak out the door. Salukis tend to sleep on beds, sofas, and chairs rather than on floors. Salukis can be a handful to train, as they are very independent and will decide for themselves if they are interested in what you are asking them to do. Should something more exciting come along, they won't think twice about walking away from you in mid-command. Patience is required for saluki training sessions, as are treats.
