About Del
Del is a beautiful senior Labrador with the sweetest soul and a frosted face that is simply divine. She's an incredibly affectionate girl who adores her people and is happiest when she's close by, whether that's sharing the couch, following you around the house, or soaking up gentle pats.
Del has spent her entire life as a much-loved companion to her elderly owner. When her owner sadly moved into residential care, Del found herself needing a new family. Because of this, she's been deeply loved but hasn't had a great deal of exposure to new dogs or busy environments. As a result, she can sometimes be a little socially awkward and over-the-top when meeting other dogs—not out of malice, just because she never really learned the social etiquette.
She would be happiest as the only pet in the home, where she can soak up all the love and attention she deserves. That said, with time, patience, and thoughtful introductions, Del is capable of forming friendships with calm, respectful dogs and could absolutely enjoy having a canine walking buddy.
🏡 Ideal Home
Del is looking for a home where she can enjoy the quieter things in life. She'd suit someone who is home more often than not or who can include her in their daily routine. She's used to constant companionship and truly thrives when she's part of the family. While she's perfectly capable of spending short periods on her own, provided she has access to a comfy couch for one of her famous naps, she'd much rather have company whenever possible.
⚡ Energy Level
Don't let her age fool you—Del still enjoys getting out and about! She loves her daily walks, sniffing all the interesting smells, and taking life at her own pace. She does have some arthritis in her back legs, but it certainly doesn't slow her down. She's currently comfortable on joint supplements, though her future family should be prepared that she may benefit from arthritis medication down the track to keep her feeling her best.
👶 Suitability with Children
Del's gentle and loving nature would suit a calm household with older, respectful children who understand that senior dogs appreciate their peace and quiet.
🐾 Suitability with Other Animals:
Best suited as the only dog in the home. Del hasn't had much experience socialising with unfamiliar dogs, so she can be a bit awkward and enthusiastic in her greetings. However, with patient guidance, she is capable of making canine friends and could enjoy regular walks with a compatible dog. She is best suited to a cat free home.
If you're looking for a loyal, gentle companion with the softest heart, the sweetest nature, and the most adorable frosted face, Del is ready to spend her golden years by your side. All she's asking for is a comfy couch, plenty of love, and a family to call her own. 💛

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
