Doja

Hi! My name is Doja and I can’t wait to get settled into my forever home and bond with my new best friend.

A little about me…
- I am a 19-week-old Australian Cattle Dog x American Bulldog. I have LOTS of energy and I am crazy smart. Not to toot my own horn, but when my foster mum took me in, I learnt so many new tricks and it took me less than 5 minutes to get the hang of each one! My tricks so far: sit, lay down, come, stay, wait, paw, spin and more!
- I have a foster dog big brother and I get along with him great; I could play for hours but I know that someone who will set boundaries for me to ensure I get my rest/quiet time is necessary so that I can regulate myself at times.
- My foster mum has introduced me to sheep, horses and cats. Whilst I can get excited I am able to listen and remain calm around them (on lead). My off lead recall is getting better every day.
- I come fully vaccinated, vet checked, microchipped, wormed/flea treated and I will have a desexing voucher that covers the cost of my spey procedure which will happen at 6 months of age. My procedure will need to happen at the vet that works with my rescue, and my adoption fee will help the rescue cover all my expenses.

A little about you…
- You should be looking for a dog that you want to actually do things with! I LOVE to train and learn new tricks so I want to continue this. Dog sports are a plus!
- I have flourished since my foster carer has established firm boundaries with me (crate training has been a game changer) so you should be keen to continue this.
- You should have an understanding of the needs of a working dog breed; we don’t just need lots of exercise (of course a necessity!) but more importantly we need REST. Working dogs do not have an off switch! So, you need to know how to train one. (My foster mum says she will tell you the secret).
- You need to be prepared to take on my ongoing medical requirements. At this stage I have shown some signs of itching (mild) which could indicate I have skin allergies. I might need ongoing veterinary help with this.
- You should NOT have young children; teenagers MAY be considered.
- You MIGHT have another doggy friend for me to play with (not essential)

How did I end up in rescue? (the nitty gritty details)
Home number 1: my breeder, unplanned litter, moved on without helping me get the best start to life.
Home number 2: a home with 5 children <10 years. FULL of chaos, I chased the littlies and nipped at ankles/knocked them over. I am a BOISTEROUS puppy with natural herding tendencies.
Home number 3: a home with an older male, he had mobility issues and I tripped him over a lot which was no good. He was considering euthanasia as I was not yet toilet trained and had not been trained recall.
Home number 4: my awesome foster mum! I wish I could stay but she says she needs to make room for more babies like me! I learnt commands. I learnt discipline (no jumping, no mouthing, toilet training, quiet time, waiting for my food, waiting for people to go first through things like doors). I got to meet dogs and play. I got to meet some kitties (on lead) and I was interested but tried to respect them. We went to the vet to practice physical examinations and to get my vaccinations.
